The Bird Rock Massage Studio — Attraction in San Diego

I've been a member at Bird Rock Massage Studio for about two years now, and I can't recommend it enough! The studio itself is cozy, welcoming, and always has such a peaceful vibe the moment you walk in. I saw several massage therapists when I first started my membership (and they were all wonderful), but now I exclusively see Denise. She is truly incredible and so talented! Denise is warm, kind, and really knows what she’s doing. I don’t have reoccurring “problem areas”, so I usually tell her I want full body relaxation, and she knows exactly what to do. Not only do I feel relaxed and refreshed after my massage, but I also look forward to visiting the studio each month to catch up with her. This has really become part of my routine and is something I intentionally calendar each month.

I’ve gotten a lot of massages before, and unfortunately, this was by far the worst one I’ve ever had. I went in hoping for a relaxing, stress-relieving experience and instead left feeling worse than when I arrived. I also had oil rubbed all over my face, and I have acne prone skin. I do Pilates, yoga, and strength training regularly, and I get some occasional soreness but I genuinely left this massage in more pain.

The massage involved painful pressure and constant dynamic movements that were anything but relaxing. The technique felt unskillful, and the assisted stretching provided no relief. I’ve had sports massages before where stretching was effective, but this session was the complete opposite.

There were also no clear cues or guidance (such as when to breathe in or out), which left me guessing the entire time and only added to how ineffective it was. Overall, the massage lacked technique, was not relaxing or therapeutic at all, and made me feel more tense and sore. I deeply regret going here and paying money...

This place is truly a gem! From the moment I first visit during their grand opening, I felt such warm and welcoming vibes from the owner and her family. It really set the tone for what has become my go to massage spot in San Diego.

Vito is phenomenal! If you're looking for deep tissue and relaxation, Vito is your guy. His intuitive touch and technique are next level. Someone in another review said he has magical hands and I agree! Diana is intuitive and responsive as well, her massage somehow left me feeling relaxed and energized for the rest of my day at the same time. Gabby has a wonderful soothing technique, she helped me relieve some chronic tension around my traps. They’re all great!
