I am honestly beyond disappointed with this rental company. They have great locations and I’ve stayed at one before no problems. But this last time was completely unacceptable. We stayed at their OB Pier 1 location. We booked A Monday through Friday stay. Most of the days were just fine. I would say the rental was in decent condition. But Thursday morning, I woke up early. I went Outside, we have to walk down a shared walkway, with the other two vacation rentals that they manage. It’s shared patio spac with different garbage cans for different rentals. One of the garbage cans was covered in maggots like completely white. I called in the morning. I let them know it was about 8 o’clock. Someone called me back and told me they would get someone out as soon as possible. But then it rained, and the maggots got washed everywhere all over the walkway To get into the house all the way down to the road it was absolutely disgusting I let them know again that no they were all over the walkway and had started getting into the house one got on my toe as I was walking to my car. Her response was you don’t need to clean it. (Seriously they are getting into the house!) It took them until probably about one or two to get someone out there so all day I was using soapy pots of water of to try to wash them away from the entryway. No matter what you would have to walk through them to get out of your rental they were also coming into the back area. I kept a towel by the front door.. Someone came out and they did The best they could for cleanup. But there were so many that you couldn’t get it all taken care of in one day. The next morning, when we were getting ready to check out, I still found them in the back room crawling around. I took a picture. I emailed them and let them know. What disappoints me as no one cared to call and apologize or try to make anything right. I spoke With no one. Customer service wise that is completely unacceptable. I am still so grossed out by the whole situation and apology or some sort of acknowledgment would’ve went out long way, but nothing. Important things to consider and reasons to AVOID this rental house and the company La Jolla Vacation Rentals.
House is on an Alley way. So it is very noisy No AC, so you will need to open your windows, and that just amplifies the loud alley way noises that go on ALL day and night. Arguments, motorcycles, truck engines, garbage trucks, barking dogs, more arguments. Again the house is basically in the alley way.....not very quiet.
House has very little in way of kitchen supplies Pillows are awful W/D are not in good working order, even with a very small load, still did not do the job well Oven was not clean. The chemical oven spray to clean it was left all over inside and when the oven was preheated emmited an awful smell throughout the whole place. Management is slow to respond, or may not respond at all. The pet fee is TWICE the amount of other rentals in the area.
What was the most upsetting is, I reserved the house because it had AC. Only to arrive with signs on the wall, stating the house has no AC. I immediately reached out to management by phone, email and text asking for them to provide a solution. No resolution, except an email, "sorry, passing concern along to management".... and 3 days later, still no answer. AC is a major amenity. False advertising for sure and they did very little, next to nothing to correct their mistake.

Read moreCreeped out beyond description. Today was the second day in a row that I deliberately left my rental unlocked only to come back and find it locked. I thought I was in a nice enough neighborhood that I needn't worry so I left unlocked in order to request additional towel service. Unfortunately on day One, I was so busy at work that i wasn't able to address the towel issue. I came back at end of Day One and the unit was locked.....which after inspecting and finding nothing missing, was just incredibly creepy knowing that the owner somehow felt it was okay to invade my privacy. To keep things short - I repeated my unlocking strategy again today only to find the door locked again when I came back. I have nothing to hide, but the level of creepiness and privacy invasion that I've experienced is NOT acceptable to the point that I'm disgusted enough that I'm now on the line with AirBNB to figure out an alternative stay.
