The entire Vetco process is a sham. The clinic visit was okay and I was able to get care from the vet but the process after for getting and receiving results from the vet visit is dangerous and incompetent.
I visited the vet to get shots and a wellness exam for my pet. There was also an infection near my pet's eye that required testing. This was just before a holiday so the results would take about 5 days.
That was okay but I called them over a week later about the results and they were not ready and was told the doctor would call back later. Fine. They call back but I miss the call. In the voicemail, they tell me the results and care information to address my pet's infection was sent to my email or to call them back for more info. I called back but no vet is available to take the call (only a scheduling tech?) and I never received the email. I try to give the scheduling person (again, don't know what that means) another email address in case it was wrongly entered (we confirmed the email was correct as well) and tell them to have the vet call me back the next day. They tell me that they will get back in 24hrs.
They never call and I never get the email. I call back and ask why no one called and a different scheduling tech (seems Petco outsources vet calls) tells me they are closed?? This was on a Wednesday afternoon. This intermediate employee cannot access the information I need and cannot route me to anyone who can provide assistance. If my pet had a much more serious illness or infection, how could they afford to waste this much time just because I cannot directly contact the vet that looked at my pet? How can a company this large, whose entire premise is loving pets, ignore this massive gap in pet care? Shame on Petco for gating access from the vet to the owner and not providing an easier communication method. Stay away if you ever need real care or attention...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAll the ladies with the exception of the vet in charge were friendly, attentive and helpful. It was our first visit with our new puppy (Frenchie) we adopted and when I initially booked the appointment I let them know it was our first time and his first time at the vet with us. We had some questions in regards to whatās normal and whatās not so we were booked a wellness appointment. When the vet came in she was extremely unprofessional in a bad mood loud pitch voice talking super defensive without us saying anything. She told us this was a 15 min appointment and we had to book another appointment one appointment per concern. I then explained to her it was our first appointment and we just wanted to ask about his skin and ears and just have a general checkup to see if his vaccines were up to date. She then proceeded to ramble for about 5 minutes telling us again sheās didnāt have time for this and our dog needed surgery and a bunch of unrelated comments about our dog. She went as far as saying and I quote ā your dog shouldnāt even existā. This is not a profesional individual and should be talked to about simple manners in dealing with people. I donāt like confrontation nor does my husband so we just payed and left and mentioned to the girl up front that we had a horrible experience and would not be coming back so not to schedule us for a future appointment. I have had dogs in the past and have never had such a bad experience with a vet. This is something that should not happen in your stores given that most of the staff was friendly and helpful. You have lost a customer thanks to this horrible vet lady you have working. I would give you her name but I have forgotten it as I tried to forget the whole encounter. She was an...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreYou might be thinking "Petco- I know them- I can save some money and be safe." WRONG.
Not only is this Vetco NOT a part of the Vetco Total Care network, it's NOT connected to any Corporate office, or officers. Call Petco? Nope, we have nothing. Call Vetco? Nope- they send you to Vetco Mobile. Call the Mira Mesa Vetco line and they will tell you "We don't have a corporate number, or anyone to contact."
As a result of this absurd absence of ANY Corporate leadership, or supervisory contact, the Vetco itself is run like a fly-by-night, shady-as-hell back alley unit.
They'll A) get your pet's vitals wrong B) continue to fail to update said vitals C) give bait-and-switch pricing, then jack the total due after service (ie $45 quote for a canine flu booster, but then charge $70 after their "discounted rate." (tried to charge me $115) D) provide wrong Nutrition information so that your dog slowly loses weight E) when the Veterinarian (Dr. Andy Scott) is questioned directly, he'll claim "too busy to talk" and scamper away to a back room F) lastly, when you try to find your way through the nonsense maze of "Petco vs Vetco vs Unaffiliated" you'll spend hours getting bounced around phone tree to phone tree- only to be told that even PETCO doesn't have an escalation phone number- they'll EMAIL someone who will call you back, "24-48 hours later."
Completely unprofessional. NOT a feel-good experience. Don't try to save money here- your pet and your sanity are...
