San Diego Food | Indian Pizza: A Divine Delight

Came here for a dinner with some friends after looking at the menu and all being very impressed with it. Definitely love the food here and come again! D6 Chicken Tikka Fries - So so good!! I was actually surprised but this ended up being my favorite dish of them all. Good amount of fries and the chicken tikka Masala on top had so much flavor. It went really well with the fries as well. Street Side Chow Mein - really good portion size and the noodles were so good even on their own. Szechwan Chicken - I asked for no mushrooms and extra vegetables on this but they did not deliver on that aspect. A bit too much gravy and they weren't as many vegetables as expected. Chicken was flavorful though. Cauliflower Manchurian Wings - And I was surprised by this one as well! So much flavor and it was hard to actually share this one because I could have eaten it all myself, haha. Butter Makhni Rigatoni - What a funky mashup dish. This actually came through with the Flavor of the butter chicken. And it actually went so well with the pasta! Italian Pav Bhaji Pizza - A little bit of a disappointment here. I was really expecting so much more in terms of the flavor of the actual bhaji that goes in the pav bhaji, but it just tasted like a bunch of things thrown onto the pizza base. Veggie California Love - was delicious! Just the right amount of toppings to crust ratio and a good flavor to the droppings and the crust as well. Everyone loved the drinks too! The mojito and

This place has a lot of potential, but it seems a little confused with its current direction. I'll start with the good parts: dog friendly patio, good spread of drinks on tap. It stayed pretty busy on the Thursday night we were there. I got the butter makhni rigatoni, I really liked it and it was only a tiny bit spicy. They did seem very friendly. It's cool that they have several pool tables. I also appreciate that they're open late, there's not a lot of places in Mira Mesa that are open late. There's a few reasons they they don't quite hit 5 stars. First, the menu is all over the place. Indian-American fusion, AND Indo-Chinese food, burgers and pizzas. It was just a lot to take in, I think a slimmed down menu would benefit them. The garlic bread that came with my pasta was dining hall level garlic bread, minor complaint but my wife regretted trading some of her garlic naan for it. Finally, service was friendly but a bit lacking. You're required to flag them down at the bar for service, but then they come to your table anyway. Had to ask for water a couple of times before we got it, not a big deal but frustrating. When they brought our food I had to get up and ask for utensils. Honestly, a lot of the issues I saw as growing pains. I hope they stick around and get more polished. The food was good, which is the most important part. I hope they continue to improve and find their way.

Mostly good food, absolutely ruined by terrible, inattentive service.

Positives: Masala and BBQ wings and sweet potato fries were flavorful and crispy, and the two salads that arrived on time looked nice. Beer selection is decent for the location.

Negatives: Oh so many to list, let's begin. We waited over an hour and half with zero communication from our server for only 1/3 of our food to be delivered. Our pizzas never arrived, and the third salad had frozen, tasteless chicken. The hot chicken sandwich was an awkwardly breaded cutlet crudely chopped into an unnatural square with almost no sauce and was soggy as a rag from the dish pit.

After being abandoned by our server, who we saw about twice in total, we were rescued by the bartender, but only after asking him to check on our order. He was great and did his best to salvage the situation, but we still ended up leaving after a long wait without the rest of our order.

We've eaten here before and service has been slow but the food usually good, but never like this. This was bad enough that we will never come back here. As people that work in the hospitality industry, we're understanding and forgiving of the things that can go wrong in the back and front of the house that negatively impact the guest experience, hence why I tend to not leave a review at all rather than a negative one. However, in this case a negative review is warranted in the hopes that this doesn't happen to other guests. If you're having problems with service, communicate those issues to your guests in a timely manner and mitigate and perform service recovery.

If there was a front of house manager, they were invisible. We were surprised that all the food didn't taste smoked since the kitchen must have been going down in flames.

Separately, just increase your prices if you're going to pass along your increased product and labor costs to your customers, don't add a 1.5% surcharge for COVID-19. We're all paying more these days, not just your business. I wonder how much of that cost increase is going towards your one hard working employee, or is it just going into...

The positives: -Got a table immediately -Reasonable prices on food & drinks -Your food will come out very hot -The decor was nice (albeit very generic for a gastro pub) -The onion rings were delicious

The Negatives: -Never offered water, while we watched other tables be given it as soon as they sat down -The food was extremely hot, but only because they were brought out as each dish was done being cooked, rather than altogether. Felt like everything was just being cooked one at a time -None of my food came out until about 10mins after my boyfriend's -When drinks were ordered, we asked for french fries as an appetizer, but those didn't come until AFTER my boyfriend's entree had arrived, and before mine did. -The French fries were no better than subpar bowling alley food -Second beer was ordered, but never brought out, so I didn't have a drink at all for quite some time- not ideal when you're eating salty food. 15 mins after ordering, I was asked if I still wanted my beer, to which I declined because I was fed up with waiting -The service was horrendous; it was impossible to ask for anything, much less water, or a box, or even the check -The manager sucked too- he was walking around to every other table asking how everything was, my boyfriend tried to flag him down from the table next to us, to ask for a box, and he didn't even acknowledge we were there despite literally facing our direction, 5 feet away -The menu is so bizarre. Indian-fusion gastro pub? If you're going to do that, do traditional gastro pub food with an Indian flare. This was just a strange mix of food in general with an Indian fusion.

This place is likely just temporary though. This location has been owned by the same people for years who just keep changing out the restaurant concept every so often instead of taking the time to improve what's there. So it makes sense that they seem to have issues with bringing their vision to fruition.

But yeah, to sum it up, most definitely not coming back. And I won't be upset when it's gone in 6 months when they try something...

Restaurant District 6 is a culinary paradise that never fails to impress. The food is simply divine, with each dish offering a delightful explosion of flavors. It's no wonder that the place is bustling, particularly on weekend nights when people flock to indulge in their delectable creations.

One thing to note is that the wait times for food orders can be a bit lengthy. However, the waitstaff at Restaurant District 6 is incredibly friendly and goes above and beyond to ensure your dining experience is enjoyable. In fact, their exceptional service truly shines as they strive to make your wait as comfortable as possible. On a recent visit, I experienced a slight delay in receiving my order, but the waiters were so attentive that they kindly offered two complimentary dishes to make up for the extra wait. This level of generosity and customer care is commendable and sets Restaurant District 6 apart from others.

Despite the occasional wait, the food itself is nothing short of extraordinary. The flavors are carefully crafted, and each dish is prepared with meticulous attention to detail. Whether you're a seafood lover, a meat enthusiast, or a vegetarian, you'll find an array of options that will leave you craving for more. The presentation of the dishes is visually stunning, adding to the overall dining experience.

If you're someone who values exceptional food and doesn't mind a bit of a wait for your order, I wholeheartedly recommend Restaurant District 6. The incredible flavors, combined with the friendly service and vibrant atmosphere, make it a must-visit for anyone in search of an outstanding dining experience. Just remember to plan accordingly and be prepared for potential delays...
