I had a terrible experience today when I took my daughter and dog to the park. As we were entering the entrance, there were a couple dogs in that entrance area and one was not leashed. I opened it thinking I would be able to slip in without letting it out as he was pretty big. But he was able to get out momentarily. It was probably bad judgement on my part, but I also think the owner was equally irresponsible for letting the dog run freely in that entrance area without him being there. He was inside the actual dog park. Anyway, he preceded to chew me out along with another dog owner. I apologized profusely, but neither of them would let up. This all happened in front of my 7 year old daughter bringing her to tears. I finally gave up and took my daughter home. The prolonged scolding and rudeness by the owner as well as the other person was uncalled for. I will not be stepping back into this park anytime soon and won't recommend it to any of my friends. Borrowing the word that was used to describe this park by others,...
Read moreWe love going to this dog park- they were closed for 2 months to reinstall the grass- but we were able to go back just recently. The grass looks great! It's rare that we have trouble with other dogs or their owners. Every now and then you'll get owners that don't know how to control their pup....and get defensive when you ask them to call their dog. So if that's you, please read the rules and be fair to your neighbors! Also, if your dog isn't fixed, you're not supposed to bring them into the park. Why? It avoids fights between male dogs especially. For the most part- it seems like the people that frequent the park are responsible and attentive owners.
The nice thing about this park is that there are trails that go up the hillside- so if you want to take a walk or a mini hike, look to the right of the park and you'll soon find the trail. Real nice area. We prefer this park over others...
Read moreThe facility has two fenced sections, one for smaller dogs and one for large dogs. Each section provides benches, a drinking fountain for people and pets, a covered area with picnic table, and benches. Volunteers act as liaisons between the City and people using the dog park. The park is maintained by the city and closes for a month or so each winter when the grass is reseeded. Rules are posted, but a few people appear to turn their dogs loose and ignore their behavior.
Be aware that the trails along the fence are frequented by horse riders. Dogs that charge at the fence barking - or the rare visitor who encourages his dog to do so - can startle and frighten horses, putting riders and...
