BEWARE OF CAR THEFT We checked out of our Airbnb and headed over to the SF golden gate look out at 9:45am. We parked at the Langdon Court parking lot for 20 minutes just to take some photos. As we walked back to our car, we noticed our passenger rear window smashed. Our backpacks were stolen but luckily our luggage in the back wasn’t. We were fortunate enough to still have our passports & money or that would’ve been the end of our trip. Unfortunately our car wasn’t the only car that got smashed, another car in the parking lot also got their passenger rear window smashed along with their back window. Unfortunately the thieves stole all their belongings including their passports and wallets. It seems that these thieves target cars from a different state (we had Arizona plates, same with the other car) and rental cars. When the police came, he was not sympathetic but I guess because he also informed us that this happens VERY often. 54 per day. PLEASE DO NOT BECOME A VICTIM AND BRING ALL YOUR BELONGINGS WITH YOU EVEN IF IT’S FOR A MINUTE. This doesn’t just happen to SUVs, this will happen to sedans to where thieves will smash your window and open up your trunk from the inside.
On a good note: the lookout/view is very beautiful but not worth getting our...
Read moreBeen photographing San Francisco each time I visit. However, until this past visit, last week, I couldn't figure out how to get a straight down the bridge photograph, from the San Francisco side. Before I flew out this time, using Googlemaps, I spotted the Golden Gate Overlook, near Battery Godfrey and some walking trails down to the beach.

However, be warned, when I arrived a couple were standing next to their car, because someone has broken into it, because of something they left on their seat that appeared to be of value to a thief.
DO NOT LEAVE anything visible in your car, when parking here, especially in the evening. Another reviewer indicated they tagged his car within 5 minutes of parking. I'd suggest you not put anything into the trunk when you arrive, either.
That said, it is a great spot for photographing the bridge straight...

Located just a short walk from a parking area, the overlook provides a peaceful, picturesque experience away from the busier tourist spots. The Pacific Ocean stretches out beyond the bridge, creating a breathtaking contrast with the vibrant orange of the Golden Gate. There are also nearby trails to explore more of the Presidio’s natural beauty.
