Pacific Overlook — Local services in San Francisco

When you have out of town guests visiting, Pacific Overlook is a magnificent place to treat them to an "edge of the continent" San Francisco view. From this vantage point, located above the Presidio's coastal bluffs, you will experience an unimpeded view of the vast Pacific Ocean all the way from Lands End to the Golden Gate Bridge. It's impressive.

Bikers, hikers, and runners pause here for a meditative moment, as the Pacific Overlook is just off the multi-use Bay Area Ridge Trail,  California Coastal Trail, Juan Bautista de Anza National Historic Trail​, and the strenuous – but rewarding! – Batteries to Bluffs Trail​. Before heading off on your adventure, inhale the refreshing sea air while resting on the rustic wooden benches made with reclaimed Presidio Monterey cypress trees. Or, if you're craving another fabulous ocean view, travel north to the nearby Golden Gate Overlook where you'll be greeted by one of the Presidio's most interesting perspectives of the Golden Gate Bridge.

Built in 2012, the Pacific Overlook is one of eight scenic viewing areas in the park. Getting here is especially gratifying on foot or by bike, but you can also arrive on the Presidio GO Shuttle​. If you're coming by car, parking can be found at the World War II Memorial and Langdon Court lots.

Beautiful and unique viewpoint of the Golden Gate Bridge, Pacific Ocean, Land's End, and Seacliff. There are nice concrete benches to sit on and a few plaques to read as you enjoy the views. On sunny days, you can see the Marin Headlands and the other side of the bridge.
