Stopped by Treasure Island Wines for a music concert last evening. This winery has been in business for 12 years out on Treasure Island - which is a trip. The owner and winemakers are interesting down-to-earth folk with admirable taste. The wine is excellent, especially considering cost. Would highly recommend the Umbriaso Rosé.
As a concert venue it is delightful. The stage is placed wisely and the seating area is hollowed out and void of clutter to allow the much better than expected acoustics to perform well as able. As host of an intimate concert, there are a few tough elements with which the performer and audience must deal, and the comfort of the seating leaves some room to be desired.
Getting to Treasure Island is not overly difficult. Take the 25 bus from downtown if you are cheap and fond of reality and breathtaking bridge views. It’s also a good way to avoid traffic. Uber and lyft drivers may despise taking you there, but they have no choice. Your best bet may be to drive yourself as you will find ample space to park, but always be wise to check the traffic getting onto the bridge first. Your GPS and internet may not work on the island, which is frustrating but endearing - as mentioned before, the island is a trip. Fortunately, there are some signs pointing directions to various businesses. One can stop at the Mersea Restaurant for dining before or after wining. There is also an iconic hot dog vendor.
Overall, I am eager to return for a weekend wine tasting, and would recommend others do the same. I am impressed by the wine, and also confident in the winery’s prospects as a musical venue due to the refreshing musical knowledge and savvy of the proprietors.

Read moreMy wife and I stopped by a Jewel in the Bay last weekend and what a delightful place this is. We where poured wines from several of the winemakers Jim and Carole from Treasure Island Wines, Dennis from Umbrasio and Cindy from Passaggio. Starting with a glass of Brut Champagne, Sauvignon Blanc and the most amazing Pinot Noir where all enjoyed. Why go all the way to Napa Valley when a short Uber ride to Treasure Island and you're served high end wines in a fun setting. We'll definitely be making this a regular stop on our weekends. Thanks to the Treasure Island Team for making our Saturday fantastic. See...
Read moreThis was a great find on Treasure Island outside San Francisco. We stopped in for a wine tasting and it was only $10 to try 5 different ones with good pours. They also offered crackers on the bar top. Then, if you buy a bottle, they wave one tasting cost! So well worth a visit and a purchase of a wine! One of the wine makers was there and he was friendly and happy to answer...
