The whole experience with Extranomical Tours was a nightmare. My friends and I made separate bookings but we booked this same Yosemite tour (through Viator) as my birthday trip. Everything was smooth, we were messaging us back and forth. 2 days before the trip, they called my friends asking if they can move the Yosemite tour to another date but they didn’t agree as of course it was already planned and again it was for my birthday. They were also calling me but I was not able to pick up, I was at work. But when I messaged them to ask an update about the trip, they even said everything was all set. They even sent us confirmation messages and pickup details the day before.

On the day of the trip, 5:50 AM was the pickup time at the SF hotel and we arrived even before that but they were late. There were around 10 people including my friends (group of 3) waiting at the pickup location. It was already past 6am when a tour vehicle arrived to pick up 1 person from all of us and the driver of the said vehicle said there was a white bus coming to pick us up. We were all just waiting there clueless as to what was happening and wondering why the tour vehicle wasn’t coming yet. They sent a message to my friends saying their tour was cancelled. They called me saying an Uber was coming to pick me up and another person to transport us to another hotel/pickup location. I told them I can’t because I am with my friends and they have to arrange it for us. An Uber arrived to pick us up and move us to another hotel only a few blocks away. We were waiting for a vehicle to pick us at the new location but I received a message saying they are canceling our tour altogether.

I am beyond frustrated with this experience as I was looking forward to this birthday trip but for it to be cancelled on the day of, it is just too much. They should have prepared better and cancelled it with advance notice so we could have made other plans and booked with another company. They were constantly lying and making excuses about it. The cancellation is not something they couldn’t anticipate bcos they were calling my friends 2 days before to ask if they could move the trip to another date. And because they did not agree, Extranomical Tours should have done all their best to get another tour bus or cancel even the day before. I would have appreciated if they cancelled the day before so we could make other plans.

But to be left waiting at the pickup location on the day itself, only for it to be cancelled altogether? The worst experience, what a nightmare! Do not...

This was such a great experience. Our tour guide was Ben and he was beyond what I could have asked for as a tour guide. His comedic banter was greatly appreciated. He gave the perfect amount of information and made it all really fun. We got picked up about a block away from our hotel around 8am and dropped off at the same place around 6pm. First stop was Muir Woods and WOW! So beautiful and going early in the morning was nice because it felt like we had the place to ourselves. We spent about an hour there, just exploring on our own. Next stop was Mayo winery, which we loved! We truly enjoyed the homey feel and the wine was SPECTACULAR. Our entire group opted for the extra tasting and we bought a bottle as well. We did not choose the lunch option because we wanted to explore Sonoma Plaza on our own, which was absolutely worth it! We ate at The Butcherman and got the brisket sandwich and the smoked Turkey sandwich. Highly recommend both. After lunch, we went to two other wineries that were in Sonoma, RuVango and Jacuzzi. RuVango was beautiful. The Salvador Dali artwork was breathtaking. One of our tour mates stated it reminded him of Tuscany. Jacuzzi reminded us of something out of a movie. Our tour guide was great! Although it was her first tour, she was super informative and extremely friendly. On the way home, we were able to stop at the Golden Gate Bridge for beautiful picture opportunities. We were lucky and got a day with no fog and not as packed. Honestly, this was such a memorable experience. I would absolutely do this exact tour again and again. We are already looking into the Yosemite tours to see the Sequoias! If you’re considering this Muir Woods and Winery tour, go ahead and book it! You will not...

A long day, but a great one! We started at 5:30 and I think did our last pick up at around seven. Food breaks are grocery stores, and fast food so if you have a need for something different, bring it with you. Our tour guide was Brian and he was fantastic! He made it a great day. He was very knowledgeable about the park, and enthusiastic, as if it was his first time visiting, had great pointers for pictures too! He was Proactive regarding issues with motion, sickness, identifying bathrooms, showed concern for our comfort while driving whether it was temperature tunes, or stories! As for our actual bus, I was not very impressed. No charging stations for phones, seats don’t recline or move and we have 31 people on our bus. There was lots of shaking, rattling and rolling between the roads and the curves. We had a mechanical issue with the door on the way back. We met Gino an additional driver on the way home, and he fixed the door! He was wonderful as well! Yosemite was just amazing! Each stop was more beautiful than the last. The giant sequoia is a strenuous hike if you’re over the age of 50! Getting down with no problem getting up is a little more challenging was very proud to say I completed it at 61 years old! I did feel That my MUIR woods tour on a different day was a less strenuous and more beautiful excursion than the hike down to the Sequoia trees. But I’m glad I did both. I highly recommend this Yosemite tour, but a day seemed too short. The overnight option might be best to spend more time...

Glenda and Andy were delightful as guide and driver, respectively! This was Glenda’s first time as tour guide, but nobody could tell because she appeared confident, joyful, and knowledgeable about the area. She built suspense for us to make the (super long) day more enjoyable, and was extremely, so beyond generous with her time, attention to our needs, and snacks! She brought ample snacks and chilled drinks for us on a hot day, making the experience all the more enjoyable. Andy gave us safe driving, sung-live tunes, and historical facts that were greatly appreciated. Both guided us on good times to take pictures and soak in the views. There were a few… bad apples in our group who seemed dissatisfied at all turns, for reasons unknown to me, but Glenda handled them with professionalism, unending patience, and grace. Some people look for the negative everywhere they go, which sucks, but Glenda’s upbeat attitude made it much more tolerable. If you do the Yosemite tour, be sure to bring plenty of water, a phone charging cord (there were USB plug ins at each seat) and food if you want to save money and time on the trip. This is a long tour day with opportunities to hike a bit, and it was way better than anything I could’ve planned myself. The guess work was taken from me, I didn’t have to be in long car lines or park, and it was honestly probably cheaper than doing it myself. Bring cash to tip if you want to do so! This was my only regret, that I didn’t bring cash and didn’t have the option to tip digitally.

Loved this tour! We visited Muir Woods, Napa, Sonoma, and the Golden Gate Bridge. Our tour guide (Kimmy) was excellent. She was very knowledgeable, fun, and friendly! It is a very full day with a lot of driving but felt paced out pretty well. If you get motion sickness, I would bring some dramamine just in case. Lots of twists and turns on the way to Muir Woods. Some of the stops felt a little rushed but it worked, it’s a lot of ground to cover in a day. The redwoods are stunning and peaceful. We had a great time at all 3 wineries, highly recommend the extra tastings at Mayo - great wines and a great value! Bring water, snacks, and layers. We didn’t do the VIP lunch but there were plenty of places to eat at Sonoma Plaza. If you purchase bottles of wine, the wineries give you sealable bubble mailers to pack in your checked luggage and it worked great! Everything made it home in one piece. One note on the Golden Gate bridge, you drive over it in the morning but don’t stop for pictures until the end of the day. In December, it was mostly dark by the time we stopped which was neat to see it at sunset. But if you’re wanting pictures in the daylight, you’ll probably need to go back…at least in the winter months when the sun sets early. Overall, it was a great way to see a lot in and around San Francisco. We would do it again in a heartbeat!
