I am not sure why it is being said this is a fake review. It is a real review based on real work done in San Jose.
We had an extremely negative experience with Brother and Brother with our kitchen remodel and 2.5 bathroom remodels. To their credit they did pay for damages and compensated with extra work. The following things occurred when this company worked on our home:
-after the demolition of the kitchen they left the valves under the sink area leaking. We did not even go in the kitchen that much as it was not functional, but I noticed water on all the tarps on the ground. We realized that the area had been leaking for a month. We had mold experts come in to inspect and test the mold that had accumulated, and it was Black mold. The area had to be professionally cleaned up to make sure the black mold was taken care of. -tiles placed in the wrong bathrooms -toilet not positioned to code -our stove was broken by them (they must have dropped it) such that the cast iron grate was cracked right through. We let them first only replace the grill but then a few weeks later the stove sparked and completely stopped working. The entire stove had to be replaced (they paid for it). -they sent someone to put up the kitchen back splash who had never done that kind of work before. After 8 hours of work, it all had to come down as he did it incorrectly. -they installed the stove range hood such that it was not centered or level. Even worse was that it was not functional! When we asked the company about this and they said their only responsibility was to attach it to the existing ductwork (not make sure it was functional). My husband took down the hood himself and reattached it to the existing duct work and made sure the fan worked. Later Brother and Brother sent a competent worker who made sure the hood was centered and level. -the first time I put a towel on the towel rack in the bathroom, the rack fell down on one side. -no portapotty was delivered until we asked about this. The workers used our bathrooms. -the workers used our tools and stools without asking -the shower curb was not installed with the proper 3/16â to 1/4â slope so that the water would drain off it and not sit. It had to be redone. -grout was placed by the backsplash in all bathrooms and it all chipped out. They came back to repair by using silicone, but this peeled off after one week. It had to be redone. We had to call them back THREE more times to repair the silicone as it kept peeling off shortly after they applied it. So in total this job had to be done 5 times. -the morning there was to be an inspection for the shower pan we noticed that worker trying to fill the shower with water (it was supposed to be sitting overnight). We heard the inspector ask him when the water was put there and he said, âlast night.â -when doing the kitchen counters we asked if they could make sure the counters were level, and they said that was not part of the job. When they did the demo on the kitchen some plywood was ripped out leaving the counters completely unlevel, so my husband had to point it out and have them fix it. -no sealant was put at the base of the toilets (they shifted around). -nails were often left on the driveway and at the very end of the job they left mess that they tried to power wash off and it left squiggly marks on the driveway. Since then we had work done in the backyard by another company and they power-washed our whole driveway without us asking them to and corrected all the mess that Brother and Brother...
Read moreMy wife and I decided to have our master bathroom remodeled and phoned around to several contractors for quotes. While many of the quotes were in the same price range, we decided to work with Brother & Brother Builders because of the professionalism of the project coordinator, Dror Postinerâthis was one of the best decisions we made. On initial impressions, Dror was on time for the meeting and followed through on every promise madeâdown to sending us the quote within 24 hours of meeting with us. Dror listened to what we wanted in the remodel and never pressured us into more work or features. He did not try to upsell us when we asked about our guest bathroom remodel as well, but instead encouraged us to let their work speak for itself and wait until we see the work in the master bathroom to decide whether to proceed on the guest bathroom. Their work speaks for itself! Once we decided to work with Brother & Brother, Dror met with us within that week to sign the contract and to schedule the demolition. After scheduling the demolition date, Dror met us at showrooms to buy the finish materials for the project and to help us pick the right materials. He was always on time for these meetings and would let us know where it was best to spend our money (shower fixtures, tile, etc) and where to save money (toilet, accessories, etc), and what products and materials would look well together. The master bathroom remodel was scheduled within a very reasonable timeframe and began on schedule. The crew assigned to our house was very professional and came to work every day. They were very respectful of our home and did all they could to minimize dust, putting down drop cloths and craft paper to protect the floors and cleaning up after themselves at the end of each day. Dror and the crew would also continuously check in with to make sure the features and fixtures we purchased were being installed to our satisfaction and specifications. The remodel of the master bathroom was proceeding so smoothly and effortlessly, including passing all City inspections, that we signed on for the guest bathroom and some drywall work in the master bedroom. The quoting and scheduling process went just as smooth and the work was scheduled to begin immediately after the master bathroom was completed. Once the master bathroom was finished and the guest bathroom was started, the work for the guest bathroom proceeded along the same reasonable timeline as the master bathroom, with all City inspections passed as well. Any time we had a question related to the work, schedule, or inspection, Dror made sure to take care of our questions or concerns. Dror ensured that we never had to worry about the projectâeven when there were unforeseen challengesâwe never had to worry that weâd be left with any issues. It was always taken care of. Both bathrooms and the master bedroom (which also included some exterior stucco work due to a new window) were completed within 10 weeksâexactly within the timeframe we had hoped for. We were initially hesitant to begin a home remodel (especially with a two-year old in the house), but Dror and the crewâs work made this remodeling effortless and worry-free. These remodels were more than just a facelift on a couple old roomsâthe work done by Brother & Brother created room transformations that we could have never thought to imagine. Thank you Dror and Brother & Brother for the awesome experienceâweâre loyal...
Read moreFive out of five stars is the only appropriate rating for Brother and Brother Builders and I would like to share some of the supporting reasons. Every home owner who embarks on the journey of a home remodel is both excited about the possibilities and nervous about the enormity of the undertaking including cost, time and stress. One of the hardest choices is putting your trust in a contractor. The ideal contractor should be knowledgeable, honest, easy to work with, cost competitive and have the ability to guide the homeowner while respecting their choices for the look and feel of their home. While this sounds impossible and contrary to the scary contractor stories you may have heard, these ideal qualities are exactly what you will find with Brother and Brother Builders.
My husband and I recently finished a five month kitchen remodel that changed over half of our house. We had an awfully small galley style kitchen with walls shared by both our family room and living rooms. In the final project, we moved our front door to make a larger entry and kitchen. We added a support beam, moved a bathroom and moved two walls that completely opened our floor plan.
Many months before contracting with Brother and Brother, we started the project with a different contractor and paid for an architect to draw up blue prints and get them approved by the city. We set off with our blue prints to bid out the project. We called Brother and Brother Builders along with three other contractors. When we met with Zion, the owner of Brother and Brother Builders, he spent over two hours with us listening and looking at the plans then plainly stated that he didnât think the current blue prints had the correct layout for our house and family needs. When we listened to his proposal we couldnât bear the idea of starting over. After working with his digital designer we agreed that he was right and we couldnât be happier with the results of our new home!
In the end we chose to contract with Brother and Brother Builders because we felt comfortable and relaxed while communicating with Zion and his teams. This fact held true throughout the entire remodel process. Our family lived in the house during the remodel and we really felt like to work crews went out of their way to make the process livable for us. They worked cleanly, worked to code, passed all inspections, stayed on time, stayed on budget and worked collaboratively with us to make sure that we were happy with every material and finished look.
While I could write a novel about the process and give multiple examples, the short of the story is that we would recommend Brother and Brother Builders for any of your home remodeling needs and will likely use them in the future when we are ready to add a second story...
