Local Church — Attraction in San Luis Obispo

I am really happy to say I have been going to Local Church for almost eight years. In that time, I’ve had a lot of big life changes, and I’m really grateful to have had the people at Local be a part of my life through it all. When I first started looking for churches, I definitely wasn’t expecting to be as involved as I have become at Local, but I am really grateful for it. As the years have gone on, I’m becoming increasingly convinced that the pastors and leaders and members of this church are all looking to do the best they can for people and to bring Jesus to people. Its actually been pretty amazing to see so many people wanting to do SOMETHING for Jesus by sharing his message and engaging in discipleship. It has inspired me to be a better me, and to have a deeper relationship with God. Since going here, the church has also started a second church in Santa Maria, which is such a great example of the heart that this church carries for people and their community. Definitely recommend coming to this church and getting to know some of the people here, I’m glad I did.

I want to thank Pastor Terry and Mercy Church for being so encouraging and empowering. I started coming to Mercy when I was a freshman in college (almost 8 years ago). I started by going to a cell group which is one of the weekly small groups that Mercy Church uses to make sure everyone is cared for. I loved it! Cell group really is where God puts the lonely in families! I found a community of dudes who were passionate about loving God with all their hearts.

My life has been completely transformed by the grace of God. I came to Mercy with addictions and sin running rampant in my life and now I am living in freedom. I couldn't have done it without the support of my cell group and my cell leader. I am challenged everyday to connect with God, learn about Him through the bible and prayer and live out my christianity in a real way.

Local is a great church and the people genuinely care here. This church is all about discipleship, and growing closer to God.

My experience with church prior to Local, was poor at best, but when I was new here, people wanted to get to know me and genuinely invited me into their lives. They remembered my name and actually seemed interested in who I was. I had never felt more welcomed by strangers, and I would tell there was no outside agenda.

I have since joined a cell group (small group) and have leaders that I actually respect and look up to. They are not living a life of double standards and really try to practice what they preach.

Local Church has become a real family for me, and has helped me to see that Christianity is more than just "checking off a box" once a week.
