Our favorite spot for a family friendly Saturday or Sunday brunch in SLO! One of SLO's long standing restaurant gems that boasts a very unique setting right next to the SLO Airport runway. Highly recommend either of their covered patios for best runway views, although there isn't a bad spot in this entire establishment.
We absolutely love their famous streusel topped coffee cake as a starter to go with our coffee's. I tend to order the eggs benedict which is always stellar, whereas my wife will get the fried fish wrap closer to lunch time and raves about it. They have a small bar that serves up bottomless mimosas on weekends as well.
This place is flooded with more regulars than just about any SLO establishment we've been to which tells you everything you need to know. Their service is some of the nicest and friendliest we've received in the county and explains all the long-time regulars. Extra kudos for the TV monitors that display the upcoming departure and arrival flights into/out of SBP airport. It was fun to follow the board when celebrating our niece's birthday brunch here a few months ago.
Can't wait to continue to go here for years to come and try the BBQ brisket for dinner, have heard...
Read moreThe restaurant is located at the end of parking lot2 of San Luis Obispo Airport. After dropping luggage, we went for lunch there. Guess what were first words - Do you have reservation!?! Verbally expressed that I am stunt that I need to hold reservation for airport restaurant, on which I got very sarcastic answer that this is not airport restaurant and they have full book with reservations?!? D'oh! Patio is touching the fence of the airport, restaurant is at airport parking - and this is not airport restaurant!?! More over, there is not a single sign that is not welcome walk-ins! Neither on Google description is mentioned reservations! After that demonstration of "superiority of service," we got "mercy" to be accommodated on a table. I don't know if the host was the owner, but it was incredibly far away from hospitality . The food was OK, the service by the waitress was good, The view on a runway was the nicest thing into entire experience. If I haven't hungry family with me, I should not spend a second in that place. I highly recommend looking for another place to eat before reaching the airport or take food with you. Avoid so call "Spirit"...
Read moreI have visited the restaurant three times now. On my first and second visit I opted for the club sandwich which is good but nothing to write home about; on my third visit recently I decided to try the fish tacos. The red snapper was grilled but tasted really fishy, edible - but fishy, which led me to believe the fish was not fresh and probably had been frozen. The salsa seemed to be canned tomatoes instead of salsa and the crema was, well, sour cream. The atmosphere at the restaurant is good because while you wait for your meal you can watch the landings and take-offs of planes at the SLO airport. The restaurant is clean and the staff is friendly. Our waitress was really busy because it was lunch hour on a Friday which made her somewhat inattentive but she was nice when she remembered us. IMHO this is an average cafe type restaurant where you’ll get good food but not great food. Be selective in your ordering - they probably excel at burgers and uncomplicated dishes but I was disappointed in my fish tacos so if I return I’ll probably order something simple like a club sandwich! BTW - skip the fries and get their kettle fried potato chips - they...
