The House of Much More than bread is quite an amazingly pleasant temple to all things flour related. Of course, if anyone is on their way to or from the airport or vineyards, this is a great pit stop for snacks, refreshments, and so on. It is also a nice place to grab a thoughtful last minute yummy gift for the locals. This was my first stop, on my marathon of rescuing, day-old goods, via the "Too Good To Go" program. The lady who helped me was really nice & helpful. It was fairly early on a nice sunny Sunday morning. While I had some trouble with one of my camera systems, I still took a few good shots. It is funny how I notice things better after later looking at the pics. I will have to try again another time, with some of my Macro lens to get some cool close ups of some tasty looking items. I did score a yummy loaf of bread and some pastries which I later munched on at home. The bread is way above what one typically finds and reminds me of European Style loafs that are more of a meal in themselves. This loaf was heavy, hefty, and satisfying, without feeling too dense. The last time I was at this building was when there was another business there. HOB has done a good job with taking it over, and I was generally impressed and really wanted to linger longer, but time was wasting. I still had to pick up & save excess eats at four other places. Later on, the mixing and matching of all sorts of baked goodies was fun. Adding a little butter or jam after toasting some items really enhanced the pleasure...and sadly, the calories. HOB surely has a fairly extensive bakery menu and some interesting breakfast/brunch choices. Lots of items really appealed to me for the future, such as a pie, or bagels. Good bagels are really hard to find in SLO. I looked forward to more visits here, since I live in nearby Shell Beach. If they have any "mistakes", I can stop by anytime :)

Very nice location and plenty of tables for guest eating inside. Items were well stocked and looked very fresh. My order was prepared and served at my table in timely fashion. The staff was very friendly and helpful in suggestions for my breakfast choices of ham, sunny-side up eggs, black beans and wonder varieties of toast paired with raspberry jam. Very delicious and on my list to return for the lunch or brunch experience. Also had the Lemon Bar which was better than the. classic that you may be thinking of. No picture because it was that good. 👍🏽 The name “House of Bread” speaks for itself so if you enjoy different varieties, flavors or choices, you gotta go.

Let me start by saying the Smell is AMAZING! Happy they made it their own feel and it doesn’t feel like you just walking into old farm house. When walking in it seems a bit unorganized but they are new and I can understand how it goes in the beginning. Staff was in training but helpful and polite. As far as the food is concerned it’s really good, got a bagel and cinnamon roll. At this point I would give the establishment 3.5 ⭐️ and the Food 4⭐️ but I’ll be back soon to update my review with second time experience

To be fair my husband and I visited on a Saturday morning we had a cinnamon roll and a raspberry pinwheel and shared a small cup of reg. Coffee which came out to $14. and some change. I’m taking into consideration all the homelessness people and all those starving and all who work hard for thier money….. I wouldn’t have given this food to anyone, they went straight into the trash after one bite. They should be ashamed of themselves selling crap for high prices. The rolls must have been a week old they were hard on the outside and gummy chewing like rubber on the inside. Absolutely disgusting! I’m sure they make thier money on all the other high priced products but I I’ll not go back and do not recommend unless you like throwing money away. If the owner and managers care they will review this and hopefully do something about it afterall it’s a great location but not friendly and not very clean. Staff maybe friendly and courteous when management is around or to certain people? Very dissatisfied and disappointed!!! And website has glitches only gives bagels as a option as to what we had nothing else.😡Update it is a week later, I heard back as you can see from whomever is in charge and what a joke! The reply I guess is only to look good, after the suggestion was put out there on there behalf to refund my husband’s money and or try something new which I thought was great….. after I replied to the response of the review to let my husband know they were going to refund his money or go at lunchtime to give the place a second chance, we have not heard a peep from anyone at House of Bread. 🤬 I now understand the people working there follow thier example from management. To management don’t say anything or offer if you don’t plan on following through...

I will give them another try but today was a washout. I came in at the beginning of lunch hour, around 11:40. There was one employee hustling around, acting as barista, cashier, and server while a couple of others were wiping down counters and tidying. No greeting, no “we’ll be with you in a minute.” I can live with that. However, a few minutes turned into 10 and I left while standing in a short but unmoving line. I’d not been here previously. Based on their website, I assume that they are shooting for a friendly cafe/diner vibe. Unfortunately, today was more of a McDonald’s at LAX vibe. Hopefully they get their management worked out. One employee was busting it while the others were utterly indifferent. I’ll give them another try but today was far below...
