Maverick — Attraction in Sandusky

Do you like roller coasters? Then you'll ABSOLUTELY LOVE this. This is one of my all-time favorite roller coasters because of how truly unique it is in that it offers everything that needs to be in a perfect coaster- air-time, a long ride length, intense G-Forces, that out of control feeling, and even some upside down moments thrown in too! On Maverick you will board one of six Stallions, and then brace for the high speed lift hill, which will only take you up 105 feet, but it doesn't need to be tall to be insane. Your head will be thrown forward on the main ten story plummet, and then whipped around during the S-Curve section through the canyon rockwork. After that, Maverick will try his hardest to buck you off of his back as you go into the first of the two "standing airtime" hills which throw you up and out of your seat. I only thought coasters with lap bars could deliver great airtime, but Maverick puts that statement to shame. Then, you'll cruise around a bend and go into two back to back inversions- the first ever Twisted Horseshoe Roll on a coaster. And after that, you'll go around another turn and suddenly almost come to a complete stop inside a long tunnel. Is the ride broken? Has it ended? Well, my friends, my boy Maverick hasn't shown what he's fully capable of yet. Suddenly, you begin to be pressed against your seat as Maverick shoots out of the tunnel into a high-speed turn that will cause some folks to grey out, and manuevers around a pond in a crazy twisted drop, then go into a short straight section before you go into what I like to call the best moments of the ride. Now, Maverick has so many great moments it was hard to pick a favorite at first, but these two stand out the most... the legendary STENGEL DIVES. Rise up into what looks like a curved airtime hill, but suddenly snap to the side as your body is thrown from one side of the train to the other, and prepare for the second, but since Maverick is flying through the course, you are slammed to the side again in a second to last-ditch attempt to buck you off his back. Then go into the final of the two "standing airtime" hills, rise up to the side, and slow down into the brake run. Unfortunately, your attempts to tame this wild stallion are over. But hey, try to ride again. And try the back row at least once for me, will ya? All in all, Maverick is one of the best roller coasters on Planet Earth and is a !MUST-DO! when visiting Cedar Point. I don't care how long the line is, I don't care how tired I am (mostly), I will ALMOST ALWAYS hop in the queue for Maverick just to get one more ride on this insane Coaster Enthusiast's...

Holy crap. This coaster is out of this world. Maverick is by far the most intense roller coaster at Cedar Point. It's the only Intamin blitz coaster I've ridden. Surprisingly this is one of the shorter coasters of the park. It's only 105 feet tall yet it packs a huge punch. The transitions on this ride are super rapid and crazy. When you go from bank turn to bank turn your body get's jostled around so much. However the restraints are super soft and comfortable so you can't bang your head around. Everything about this coaster is crazy. The 95 degree drop, the airtime, the transitions, even the lift hill is awesome. You rocket up the hill so quickly. Because it's so fast and the drop is so steep, you whip over those turns and those hills. Once you enter that tunnel, you may think the ride is over, however it is just the beginning. I won't spoil what happens in the tunnel if you don't know what happens. Let's just say if you aren't expecting it, it will take you by surprise. ;) After that tunnel, the ride gets even more insane. You go over these high banked turns and more airtime hills and you feel as if you are going to fly across the park. At the end I had tears in my eyes and my heart was beating so fast. This is my second favorite coaster right behind Millennium Force, which is in the same park. The Intamin coasters at Cedar Point are some of the best I have ever ridden. Maverick is a must ride. It truly is he wildest ride...

Maverick is hands down one of the most thrilling coasters at Cedar Point and quickly became my personal favorite. The wild, untamed vibe matches its name perfectly, starting with a jaw-dropping 95-degree first drop that immediately jolts you awake. The ride keeps your adrenaline pumping with crazy, whip-fast turns and an unexpected launch right under the station that blasts you toward the water section — a rush like no other.

With its sleek design and bold colors, Maverick feels like a backcountry roller coaster adventure. Its iconic silhouette is visible from the road, calling thrill seekers to come ride.

Ride stats are impressive — 4,450 feet of track, 70 mph top speed, and a 2 minute 30 second ride time packed full of excitement. For the best experience, hit the front row for pure speed or the back row for maximum airtime.

Pro tip: Avoid midday lines by riding at rope drop or snagging the last ride of the night — way less waiting.
