We wanted to share one of three videos Joanna Rose recorded on her recent visit to @Cedar Point in Sandusky, OH. She and her family stayed in the Hotel Breakers on beautiful Lake Erie, the only hotel on the amusement park property right now and rumored to harbor multiple spirits! The rooms are clean. Unless you have a patio to the outside. The upper floor balconies are always disgusting. The pool and outside hot tubes have more bugs then I have ever seen in a pool before. Not sure if the filter works, multiple guests, including myself are skimming the water amenities because the bugs floating around you that bad. Maybe empty the pool filters? The water power from the rooms aren’t great. They are always backing up, toilet and showers. The toilet started over flowing, at 6am. Called the front desk. Wasn’t sure if he could find a plunger, and maintenance wasn’t there yet. Meanwhile grey water is covering the bathroom floor. Good things we had an abundance of towels to stop the toilet water from spreading to the rest of the room. A plunger did eventually show up. You just don’t want to hear, we aren’t sure we can help you with toilet water going all over the floor.

After my toilet overflowed with no certainty of competency, I went to the gas station looking for a plunger and to fill up my tank just after 6am, leaving 15 minutes after the overflow. Came back to the hotel. Security didn’t want to let me in because I didn’t have my reservation ( It’s on my wife’s phone, she is still sleeping, with my kids, in our room ) even though I had my parking lot sign they hand out to guests, so I handed him our room key, handed him my drivers license, and told him our room number. He then decided his best course of action was to lecture me, rather than help a GUEST, paying $500 a night. I am not dealing with this, now I am awake and angry. (don’t know if I can get a plunger yet, not one at gas station) I told the security guy to make a call about my name and reservation with my ID and room key. He didn’t make the call, and told me “I wasn’t listening to him”. Unfortunately I didn’t want to listen to him assert his authority. Don’t have too.

He is going to have to let me in, I am a guest, not a thief. Rather than get lectured, I decided to back up, roll up my window and wait for him to raise the gate. I am a guest! I put my car in reverse, there was an another car behind me (6:30 am), not really any other traffic, I must have seemed crazy that point. Security screams “what are you doing!” hands me my ID and room key back and he let’s me right in. Still never making a call to find out if I was a guest or not. So I guess his bullshit wasn’t that important in the end. Great hotel, great location, love this place. Poorly run. To bad. Two nights ago we went to the hibachi restaurant on location. My wife asked the young man bussing the tables for chop sticks. He rolled his eyes at her, like she was bothering him. Then he proceeded to go lean on the wall of the restaurant in the dinning area, in full customer view and look at his phone. Not the best experience i have had. Problem is, we love the place. Great beach, great location, nice older vibe, beautiful hotel. Poorly run, not treated like guests, getting lectured by people when they can just help you. Wild. Sometimes security officers don’t understand, they are only security if needed, in an RARE event. The rest of the time they are customer service. Part of the experience, they are not separate from the hotel. Guests combine the entire experience together. They ARE PART OF IT. Some people in human race just aren’t smart enough to figure it out. They need to be told. We love this place. Please lock it up. Dan at the front desk rectified the situation and returned half of the money from our multiple night...

we frequently stay at either hotel breakers or lighthouse point, always stay onsite, usually 8-12 nights per year. we stayed October 10-14 in a Horizon Suite on the third floor of Breakers East this time. Suite is HUGE! Massive balcony with a breathtaking view of the lake, enough for 5 of us to feel not crowded. Nice dining area with table and 4 chairs, wetbar, living room with sleeper sofa and chairs, big bathroom, and hot tub in the king bedroom. Our hot tub was not working the first night, and maintenance was unable to fix it, they sent someone up the second day, here, you have to hit the switch a certain way and it worked. They actually refunded us close to $400 since we could not use it the first 2 days! and lemme tell you, after walking miles and miles through the park in some cool weather, sometimes rainy, coming back to the room achy and wet, sitting in your own hot tub is wow. We ate at the Following: TGI Fridays: they were out of some fried foods the first night, but we made due. The service was really great Tomo: always a fun time! Famous Daves: a nice little vacation from the vacation, good food and service Perkins: our waitress was fantastic and made the little 4 year old giggle a lot Farmhouse: we seldom eat in the park as we prefer places with table service, but walking past this place, the smell draws you in, it's hypnotizing- so, we took the bait, and let me tell you it did NOT dissapoint! The chili was probably some of the best chili I have ever had, and the biscuits were so good!

This wasn't really a "riding" trip for us, we enjoy the atmosphere and food and beverage, we sometimes do a "barhop" in the park (again, we aren't driving, just walking back to the hotel) so some of the favorites are last chance saloon (the bartender recognized us from day to day), red garder, and the grand pavilion- this new edition is fabulous. very lively, very bright, when you walk in, it smells like you're walking into the windjammer restaurant on a royal Caribbean cruise ship. it's a bit expensive but nice.

Service in the park was outstanding. we played some games and won, and bought a couple hundred dollars worth of swag at the shops in the park- they actually took our room info and had them delivered back to the hotel so we would not have to lug them around the park, which was sweet!

The lady working at the snoopy store helped me to pick out gifts for my great nieces and nephew, she walked around with me and made suggestions, it was great!

Cedar Point has really stepped up its game- not that they were ever bad, but I didn't realize it could get better!

My only suggestion, and I know this is widely unpopular: there should be at least one smoking area inside the park. The downside to not having this is that people have to exit at the gates and smoke out there, so those who are entering the park have to walk through it. if they took the area where the paddlewheel used to be, where there is no foot traffic, and made it a smoking area, it would be nice. honestly I would end up spending a lot more time- and money- in the park as I would not need to keep leaving, could get our drink on and then go have a smoke.

Looking forward to a 5 night trip in June at lighthouse point, and a horizon suite for 4 nights in October 2025! Countdown has...

Early this year, we thought we would take our family to Cedar Point and experience Cedar Point and Cedar Point Shores and spend time on their beach. In March, my wife made our reservation for a family suite on the poolside to take advantage of the convenience of walking out to the pool from our room plus take advantage of getting an early rate. After months of our children waiting anxiously, it was trip time. Upon arrival, we were impressed by its majestic view from the front. I asked for a luggage cart but was told I couldn't use one and had to use the bell services. Did that, it actually worked out nicely. Finally after finding a place to park (felt like I parked in Columbus), I went to the room number which my wife had texted me. Walking into the main entrance was promising. The gift shop on the left, the smell of coffee brewing (Starbucks), I came to the front desk area. It was nice to see the grand lobby. Once I entered our room, I was underwhelmed. It was smaller than anticipated. Not that we were expecting to stay at a grand upscale hotel at a Disney Resort, but we expected their flagship hotel to shine like a diamond. The room location wasn't where my wife and requested. She did contact Cedar Points main desk as well as customer service and they did acknowledge they now see the request, but were unapologetic to her about missing it. That was disappointing but was easily gotten over. The carpet looked like original carpeting. It was dirty, swept, but very dirty. The room was dusty, TV, Nightstands, beds. There was a musty smell like grandma's cellar where she stored her canned vegetables. My daughters used the pull out couch which had a mattress that was in bad shape with a stain that we're not sure could be identified. I wasn't about to alert CSI Sandusky to come test it for DNA. Fortunately, we do carry disinfectant with us. The refrigerator didn't stay cold. The bathroom floor looked like it wasn't really mopped prior to our arrival. It was dirty with cobwebs in the corners of the door. The shower was dated and small. Lighting was poor. The shower head had a calcium buildup on it. The drain. Well, it was slow. The first night one of my daughters showered, it flooded the room floor. the drain was open. The hotel staff finally came to help mop up, but that wasn't until after I had exhausted all of our towels to clean it up. I was able to get the drain to open up more but it still drained slow.

The room is much to be desired. The staff we encountered were fantastic. Wednesday we rented a bungalow on the beach. The gentleman running the rental was fantastic, our waitress was onto of her game was very engaging to my family. The front desk personnel were very accommodating when they replaced our pool bands (which is a joke because nobody was wearing them and it seemed as if the lifeguards/poolstaff didn't care. The main pool by the ice cream parlor looked like it needed some work. Tape holding pieces in, chunks missing from the walls. Hot tub inside and the other side closer to the water park both had jets going with cold water.

We loved the location and ease of getting into the parks. The hotel was meh. We might be back. Who knows. If you book here, don't have high hopes...
