It’s been years since we did this hike. It was coming back to us that the trails were filled with vegetation growth highlighting the beauty- resilience and narrow dirty trails.
Thistles are in some spots, be watchful along the way not to get pricked. The trails were of an uneven surface due to rocky outcrops, resulting in difficulty for movement from the growth of vegetation. Know your limitations and boundaries. Stay alert, be vigilant, exercise good judgment.

Read moreThere are not a lot of parking spots, so I'd recommend you go first thing in the morning or be prepared to start your hike early, having to walk from a farther parking lot. This trail can also get a bit crowded since there are a few different levels of trail you can hike off of this single trailhead, which is another reason to go as early as you can. We usually hike past the reservoir and keep going to the lower falls. AllTrails marks it at 4.6 miles and just under 4 hours and that was about accurate for us. I think it took us a little less time hiking, but we spent a lot of time hanging out at the falls just enjoying the views so that added a lot of time for us. But it's one of my favorite hikes so I do it every year, it has a variety of different scenery and it's not too challenging until the end close to the falls, it does get a little vertical, but I've seen lots of kids doing...
Read moreFirst timer! My friends and I wanted a kid friendly trail for our 2 year old's, so we found this trail in a trail app and we decided to go on the trail that was only 1.5 miles. When we got there, there wasn't a lot of parking space so we had to walk a little bit until we got to the trail. The trail was more steep than I expected but we saw a few pregnant women and some others carrying their small kiddos backpack style so we decided to try it out. The hike wasn't hard physically for us, but was kind of stressful with our small kiddos walking the trail with us. One of our friends stayed behind at the bridge with her toddler and waited for us to finish, I ended up carrying my toddler with me at the end, but we reached the lake at the top, SO beautiful, definitely worth the hike! I would definitely go again but would not bring my toddler again on this hike, at least until...
