One of the last-standing Arrow suspended coasters still in operation, and the ONLY one still operating West of the Mississippi river. To ride this coaster is to ride a rare piece of history. Cherish it while it still stands. 43yrs later it still runs like a dream, and has rarely had any issues (the main one being the 2014 tree incident, but most of the trees surrounding the ride have now been cut away to prevent that from happening again).
Also a little trivia: the area that now houses Ninja's loading station and queue wasn't always so. It used to be the upper station for the other, now-defunct transport ride known as The Dragon, which is why you can see the welded turntable ground beneathe the Ninja queue rails when you come down those stairs and into the station.
The lower Dragon station can still be found at the bottom of the hill on the side opposite the other funicular, currently known as the Helpful Honda Express (formerly known as the Orient Express before the Honda sponsorship). It is an empty abandoned gazebo located right behind The Soda Shack. It would let you off at the bottom of the hill facing toward what is now known as the Back Lot of the park (Gotham City, DC Universe, whatever you want to call it these days), right across from Gold Rusher, and across the way from the Jet Stream entrance. Some of the track to the Dragon can also still be seen from Ninja's final lift hill if you are paying close enough attention and looking to your left as you ascend back into the station.
Anyway, The Dragon was eventually torn down to make way for Ninja which was built in the late 80s. The old cable cars for the Dragon were last seen sitting in storage in the spot where Deja Vu once stood. They are literally shells of their former selves now, of course. In one of the photos you can also see couple of the old gondolas from the long-defunct Eagles Flight which was torn down in the 90s following the big Northridge earthquake.
Still proud to call Magic Mountain my home Six Flags park. I've been coming here since 6yrs old (for the last 29yrs) and it's still a great park to get my coaster fix when I...
Read moreNinja is a good ride. For a family coaster it is quite intense! Some of the low to the ground turns on this ride offer some great forces. The swinging vehicles on this ride are also really great, it adds some more fun to this layout. I don't really like how janky this ride is though, and with the bad arrow restraints, it can be uncomfortable. It also ends with a buzzkill, going up that lift hill right into the station. Overall it is a fun ride, but its not one of the best...
Read moreThis is a fun coaster to introduce someone who isn't quite into roller coasters. It feels faster than it is because of how low to the ground you are during the ride, especially when you get near the water. I always try to get on it when I visit the park, just because I enjoy it - even if it isn't the most intense coaster...
