So a few things... the staff, yes, is great. Lizzy was very nice and helpful when we got stuck (it was just my husband and I). After our first room (Murder in the Mancave - escaped with over 14 minutes left) we added on the Art Gallery Heist as an adhoc room.
Murder in the Mancave - I liked this room. However, I feel like it just abruptly ends. I wish there had been a few extra puzzles for those of us who have this as a hobby. My only hint to you is to be perceptive.
Art Gallery Heist - the puzzles don’t flow as smoothly as I’m used to (although, I think they were great puzzles! - especially the touching chain). We asked for a clue and had to wait 7 minutes l, I was concerned so I left the room and waited in the hallway while the game master was checking in another group into another room. She graciously gave us a clue and added time back on to our clock. I found a few clues that needed a bit more of a starting hint from the previous clue, and again felt like it abruptly stopped as again we got out with over 14 minutes left.
I’m interested to try their third room, out of the box, to finish the location. All in all, we had a great experience and added a couple more notches to our escape room belts. I do recommend this location for anyone who’s done 5 rooms or less because it will be challenging. For those who’ve done over 5 rooms, you will find these rooms fun as well - bring your non escape room friends to show...
Read moreOk it was snowing and we needed some family bonding time so we decided to try out GER! I was a little worried about my kiddos. They range from 6-11 and I wasn't sure how they would like this sort of "bonding exercise". We called ahead and reserved an afternoon spot. First of all the entrance for the GER is actually behind the Concord Plaza. Actually you have to enter behind Joey B's. The website driving directions are actually very good. Parking is ample and you park right in front of the door. When you walk in it is very similar to every escape room I have seen. Very barren hall with multiple doors with different theme names. We were greeted right away by Sebastian.
He was extremely helpful. The easiest we were told was the Murder in the Man Cave escape. A pleasant surprise was that kids under 10 were free! BONUS!
Fast forward to the end since I am not about to give any secrets away. Everyone had a BLAST! My 6 and 8 yo girls actually wanted to turn around and do another escape! What a great time. Sebastian kept it fun and the kiddos really enjoyed interacting with him through the intercom for clues.
We did "escape" and had a fantastic time. We will definitely come back and try a different adventure hopefully sometime...
Read moreMy husband and I were in town for work, and popped in to try the Out of the Box room. What a unique concept for an escape room! All of the puzzles made sense and it was SO much fun. When we finished that one, we asked if we could possibly try their Cold War room, and our Game Master Alyssa set us right up for that one. That one is definitely an immersive game, with plenty of puzzles and some unique ideas incorporated into the room. For us, it is important for puzzles to make sense, even if we need help. When we ask for a clue, we hope to go "Oh duh" rather than "Huh?" The puzzles in both the rooms we tried fit that bill. That was appreciated.
But more than all that, it is impossible to enjoy an escape room if you don't have a good Game Master. They set the mood from the beginning, and the value/timing of their hints is crucial to making you feel accomplished. So a huge shout out to Alyssa, our Game Master, for clearly enjoying her job and making us feel like you were happy we were there. You excel at your job and...
