Food is phenomenal. It's sad that they sometimes discontinue items on the menu, but it has not stopped me from ordering here. Just about anything on the "comfort" section of the menu, and any of their sandwich and burger options are amazing. The main dish and the sides will fill you for lunch and most of dinner. I will very much recommend anyone try their cheesecakes, they are full of volume but the taste is great and unforgettable. This place is enjoyed best at your own pace, as the servings are great for a diner. My mom would normally order their wraps, and they will fill it to the brim! They don't fall for the chip bag experience. That wrap will quite literally be filled from one end of it to the other. It has been entirely filled every single time we ordered it. If that doesn't spell "Worth the price" I don't know what does. It can get pretty pricy if you're buying for a larger group of people, but that comes with eating out at most bars/diners that offer great meals with sides, along with appetizers and desert! It's a great place to eat out every once in a while.
Update: I still stand by my whole review. I will say even though it was mothers day, I had a bit of a problem with the door dash(ERS) picking up my order. I put in a order through the app the moment their doors opened, and I had one dasher come by, just to cancel the delivery. Afterwards, I had another dasher pick up my order, just to take a whole 40 minutes to deliver it after leaving the store. If I knew it was going to be that busy and if I knew that this would've happened, I woulda came on my own. I only note doordash here because whenever you make a delivery on their app, it's through doordash. Nothing on the store, and I still really appreciate this location for even being open ON mothers day!! I just wish they had a more effective way to...
Read moreWow, in the dictionary under "mediocre" was a link to this place.
We went for lunch on a Thursday. How hard could that have been? The restaurant was, maybe 1/3 full at noon. There were three of us. We were seated promptly and our drinks were brought timely. That was the highlight.
The service before we were fed was OK. The food was not quite up to Applebees standards (and that is not a compliment.) One of us had quesadillas. She ate two of the five portions and said they were lukewarm.
The second at our table had half a sandwich and a bowl of steak soup. The bread on the sandwich was cold and stale and the soup was not hot.
I had a "let's do lunch" 1/2 grilled chicken salad with ranch dressing. Here's what the menu says: "Strips of grilled chicken on a bed of salad greens, topped with cheddar cheese, carrot sticks, cucumbers, roma tomatoes, eggs and croutons. Served with honey mustard or your choice of dressing."
For $8. someone took a bag o' salad that was unwashed, unchilled, and bitter and they dumped it on the plate. Then they nuked a frozen 5 oz. piece of "grilled" chicken breast and cut it into 6 dry, lukewarm pieces and dropped it on top. There were maybe 8 julienned, 1" pieces of "carrot sticks. No cheddar cheese. They added exactly two, 2" diameter slices of roma tomato, a 1/4 wedge of the world's smallest hard-boiled egg (almost unnoticeable under the bag o' salad) and 4 slices of cucumber. That's it. No bread or crackers.
This was served with a quarter cup of lukewarm (is anyone sensing a temp trend?) nearly flavorless ranch dressing.
When we were done, the server left all the plates on the table while he brought us our check, took the credit cards to ring up and brought them back (no pens) to be signed. We worked around the dirty dishes.
I promise you, I will...
Read moreTerrible Experience at 54th Street Restaurant
We had a horrible experience at 54th Street Restaurant recently. From the moment we sat down in the bar area, things were disappointing. The tables next to ours where dirty and cluttered with leftover items, and nobody bothered to clean it during the entire time we were there.
We ordered a beer and a chicken sandwich to share, but on the very first bite of the sandwich, I nearly broke a tooth on something hard. Hoping it was an isolated issue, I tried again, but the same thing happened two more times. Frustrated, we stopped eating and waited for the server.
When we explained the problem, the server brought out the manager, who seemed completely disconnected from the dining area. He handed us a small cup and told us to place the foreign object inside so he could “show the company.” His demeanor was dismissive—he didn’t offer us any replacement or compensation beyond saying the sandwich wouldn’t be charged. Instead, he suggested we write down what happened in case we needed dental work, which gave us the impression he thought we were trying to scam for free dental care.
To make matters worse, he charged us for the beer. This felt incredibly petty given the awful service and our ruined meal. We paid the exact amount for the beer and left no tip, which is rare for us.
This visit completely changed my perception of this restaurant. I previously left a nice review after a decent visit last year, but I am now retracting it. This experience showed how poorly the restaurant is managed and how little they value their customers.
We won’t be returning to 54th Street Restaurant. The poor service, dismissive management, and lack of accountability were enough to...
