I found Sarasota Clay Company a bit over a year ago with the intention of re-sparking my college passion for pottery after a 35 year lull. I’ve been a regular student ever since I stepped in the studio. Carla has created a wonderful community of inspirational potters of all ages- hand builders, wheel throwers and those who do both. The culture of the studio is special in that it is a true community with experienced and skilled teachers ( including Carla!) and staff who are there to help you be the best at this art form. Sarasota Clay Company is an excellent place to go if you like working with Clay material or art. You can watch certain items being made/processed over a period of weeks or just pick up a few supplies or ideas. She has all the latest technology and some old-fashioned technology to make your favorite designs, or memories come true. Fun & messy 1 hour intro pottery wheel throwing class. $25 per person. Good teacher, way better than my high school art class where I never got past centering the clay. Demonstrated and coached different posture and finger techniques for throwing clay. We went as a family for a birthday celebration. Good messy art fun. They are firing our pieces.
