Breakheart reservation: This is another amazing place to visit for Hiking, Biking 🏍, Horseback riding, Swimming 🏊♀️, Fishing 🎣 Cross-country skiing ⛷️ ⛷️ and educational programs.
The park was established in 1934.
Breakheart reservation is a public recreation covering about 652 acres (264 ha) across towns of Saugus and Wakefield, Massachusetts.
Was here with friends, and it's an inspiring experience for me. I would commend anyone who wishes to experience quite a movement nature to do a visit here.
Though, I was not able to take pictures showing all of the facilities, but they have the following:
Visitor center: The park is headquartered at Christopher P. Dunne Visitor Center, which opened in 2004. In addition to restrooms, educational programs, and information, the center has displays and exhibits that introduce aspects of the forest's wildlife and human history.
Swimming: The beach at the north end of Pearce Lake also has a first aid station during the summer months. I took a few pictures at the lake. The lake was divided into some parts, which shows areas considered too dangerous to swim 🏊♀️ through.
Trails: Trails are available for hiking, mountain biking, and cross-country skiing. The park also offers fishing, orienteering, a tot lot, and a play area for dogs and their owners, Bark Place.
The reservation is free and open to everyone.
Let me show you some nice pictures I am...
Read moreThis place is amazing! Truly a hidden gem that I've been driving past for years with no idea! The city of Saugus has invested a lot of time and money into this park, and it was very well invested! There are tons of different trail options, from Rocky, hilly ups and downs for the experienced hiker, to flat paved trails for bikes and strollers and a more relaxed walk. I didn't get to explore anywhere near all that this fantastic spot has to offer, but my dog and I will definitely be returning! It is well known and used by the locals, but not overcrowded (though I haven't seen what it's like on a pleasant Saturday/Sunday afternoon- I'm sure it's packed). Parking was easy, with at least 2 decent size lots. The trails are not well marked, but that doesn't bother me. Plenty of water and fun for the pups, and lots of new dog friends to meet of every shape and size. There's picnic tables and facilities, which make it a great place to bring the family for a Sunday afternoon picnic, hike, walk, bike ride, etc. I can already tell this is going to be one of our new favorite after work hikes, and we've only stopped here once! Absolutely 100% worth a visit. Whether you're looking for somewhere with challenging hikes, or a leisurely Sunday afternoon bike ride, you will not be disappointed that you made the trip! Do yourself a favor and...
