We did a Savannah Cruzers combo tour (history and Bonaventure Cemetery) on Halloween. We made a trip request online, a couple of texts with additional information and met at the Savannah Visitor's Center. You will also need to pay for parking but it very reasonably priced. The overall tour was approximately two and a half hours in the eco-friendly car with one other couple making it feel very personalized. We started in the various wards with the squares and parks and got an excellent overview of the early history of the city, the buildings, famous people, recommendations, etc. Our tour guide was most excellent! From there, a short trip through town to the Bonaventure Cemetery for more knowledge, photos and bad jokes. Lastly, we came back into the city for a few more areas to end back at the Visitor's Center. Key for us in booking this company in addition to the strong reviews was the dog-friendly nature we perceived - and it definitely was. Our 2 small dogs rode for free in our laps but there was more than enough room for all 4 of us to be comfortable. This tour would also be great if you have mobility issues as you do not exit the vehicle which was in no way a hindrance to our enjoyment of the tour (there were a couple of opportunities offered for bathroom breaks but none taken by the group). In terms of payment, this happens at the end of the tour. The only less than positive part for us was it did take some time and a number of follow up messages to finally confirm the tour. I would highly...
Read moreOur guide, Brandon, was knowledgeable with the right amount of funny. My partner is not a fan of overdone or artificial humor, so Brandon gets an A+ in my book for pleasing her and dosing me with the perfect blend of historical facts and curious tidbits (even Spock and Captain Kirk make a cameo!).
We really enjoyed not having to walk in the cold and stand around for long periods of time listening to what seemed like lectures (we could overhear a couple of walking tours). We got to ride along and learn many intriguing points ranging from local color to famous residents to architectural points (so to speak) to unusual designs and even absences in the cemetery.
Brandon suggested a few spots to walk to briefly and permitted me to hop off the golf cart for the occasional quick photo of my own choosing (I'm also pretty sure we covered more ground than the walking tours).
Our companions brought their little elderly dog, so know that the golf cart can accommodate extra lap riders with no problem.
This was the perfect introduction to whet your appetite to want to learn more, or just to leave knowing you've received a great overview of the history of Bonaventure with quite a few memorable facts you'll not find on a Google search.
Thanks much, Brandon! We enjoyed this...
Read moreMarch 7, 2020 my son & I were visiting Bonaventure as we've done every year for the past 8 years. We enjoy taking pictures in the cemetery then compare to others in past years. On this day, he & I were in the back of the cemetery & the cart for Savannah Cruzers was flying thru the isles. She woman driving stopped in front of a monument that we were taking a picture with. She screamed at the both of us & began making rude remarks in front of her customers. Needless to say, I was mortified. My son & I have taken pictures there for many years & have never been treated like a criminal. She embarrassed me severely. I slowly walked away from the monument with my son. As we were entering our vehicle, she drove past us telling her customers how disrespectful we were & how you can't just walk into someone else's yard & do as you please. It was awful. I was so embarrassed by this that I had to stop & make sure I took a picture of this woman. We weren't bothering anyone & we were not damaging any property or being disrespectful. She shamed us in front of several individuals, enough to cause me to leave...
