Softball fields do not get proper maintenance. Played in a 3 day tournament and the holes in front of the pitchers rubber were horrendous. The worst I’ve ever seen. The holes were literally a 6” drop directly off the rubber and about 3’ long. Girls in every game could not perform. Tournament officials said they couldn’t do anything. They should have contacted whoever runs the fields. This morning I brought my own watering can, a rake and tamper. In about 7 minutes we made it decent. Could have spent another 15 to make it even better, but no time. Shame on this park for putting these girls in a position where they can’t perform and risk injury. Read moreOlympic Park has been the most important venue for soccer in Chicagoland for many years and it is very popular for baseball and softball, also. The fields have been recently upgraded and some grass converted to artificial surface, which results in more total field availability after bad weather. They have nice, clean bathrooms and occasionally a snack shop. They never run out of parking but it can get very full at peak times.
