Well what can you say about skypark airport? Well it used to be an airport. I've lived here so long, I remember the planes flying in. And a couple of them crashing. Which I think led to the demise of the airport because it was kind of dangerous. A big cliff on the landing strip so if you missed it, well you crashed. Those were good old days back in the '60s and '70s. This is such a wonderful place now. It's good to see so many people take advantage of it. I used to go fly my drone, but now they've kind of fenced the place off. They're going to build a civic center there. Really a bummer but the city could use a civic center so what the heck. It's just that it's so hard to find any open space for anything these days. When I moved here my house is off of granite Creek and nobody wanted it because it was too far away from town! Town is like 3 minutes away. It was a different time then all the lumberjack shows around August 4th or 5th right at my damn birthday but I used to be able to go to those because of it and it was wonderful seeing the axes being thrown the wood being cut The lumberjacks climbing the poles. This all happened at skypark and Kings village shopping center. Back then it was Coast to Coast not Ace hardware. Back then there was a rexall next to what is now nob Hill. Then it was a Chinese restaurant then it was God knows what but change comes and you remember what was there but it's not there anymore so you have to just go with what's there now. It's too bad that a lot of the service companies have disappeared. People in this area are so freaking rich that they can afford to take their stuff to the dealers. Me I have no business being here. It's just that my parents bought a house back in 1964 for 21,000 and now it's worth over 1.4 million and really it's not it's just a big box. But boy am I lucky because I'm going to sell it one of these days and get the hell out of California which is the most beautiful place to live but I can't afford it anymore. There's too many taxes there's too much everything. I'm going back East where you can still get social security and sort of live on it. Anyway I think I got off the subject of skypark airport. It's a great place to go place to walk your dog place to skateboard place to play on the playground place to run on the grass, place to kick back and just enjoy. Good old Scotts valley man. Wonderful place. I'm going to...
Read moreReally great park to spread out and create a separation between the busy life if crowded streets to a quiet setting that creates peace. The green pasture field is wide and suited for all your recreational events - even flying kites and taking naps. The playgrounds are separated with a sandbox for one set of play and wood chips for the larger set - play structures. Bathrooms are clean , along with water faucets and bottle fill up stations. A Bocci Ball set-up has been improved and kept clean and neat. The dog park is along side the skate park arena, and is safe with built up fences and gates. A BBQ area that is well acquainted and with installed pits and seating areas. The gazebos are constructed perfectly and create a lot of shade for the little ones or for all that need that setting. And last, the running trails and basketball courts are entirely up to your expectations of a fantastic park that have safety, amenity and public opportunities. Stay awhile and let the birds and cool breeze drift you to sound of...
Read moreGreat park for the kids, but the toys are far back from the parking lot, so be prepared to hike in a ways, good for the kids, but not always for grandma's knees, could use a few more benches but they have picnic tables so that works. They have a basketball court and a soccer field so lots of green. There is a dog park, you get to see lots of dogs coming and going too. They also have a bike/skateboard park, lots of activity here. It is also right near the library, a school and a housing tract lots of users with not a ton of parking, but we have always been able to find some. They hold lots of events here too, had old cars and wine a couple of weeks ago that was a lot of fun seeing the old cars, with food and music and lots of local crafts, wine and beer...
