This park is always gorgeous no matter what time of year. It's a great place to walk your dog if they're not into the dog park. My Portuguese water dog is afraid of any dog she doesn't know so when I go to the dog park she cowers the whole time and hides behind me. But she gets so happy walking around the lake and seeing the ducks, geese, Canadian geese, birds, fisherman, kids, bike riders, and other pet owners. She literally smiles and frolics, goes as far as the leash will let her and constantly looks back to make sure I'm still there. I've taken her off the leash (which is against the law but she loves it) and hidden behind a tree and she freaked out but then used her nose and found me! This park has it all, volleyball courts (with sand! ) basketball courts, a playground, soccer fields, fishing (mostly catfish [use hot dogs as bait] and some bass) but don't go expecting to catch anything bc they say it's stocked but I always ask people if they have caught anything and it's almost always a 'no.' As far as beauty and charm this park is the place to be. There's a few smaller parks in the area if you're looking for more of a quiet, subdued location. The train park on Scottsdale and Indian Bend is great. There's a small park on Via De Ventura that's just west of Hayden on the north side of the road after the curve. It's nicer than any of the other parks in the city and it's not really popular so it's great for taking your kids to play at or your dog to walk without the leash. Plenty of sights and character if you want quick parking and a low traffic area for a nice get away this is the park for you. Also if you're further up north there's a small park called northsight park off the 101 near Raintree that's similar to the one on Via De Ventura in a secluded area that's very quiet, safe, and...
Read moreAs an avid outdoor enthusiast, I recently visited Chaparral Park in Scottsdale, Arizona. I was thoroughly impressed by the park's amenities and the wide range of activities it offers for visitors of all ages. The park is a sprawling 100-acre oasis perfect for those seeking a respite from the hustle and bustle of city life. One of my favorite aspects of Chaparral Park was the jogging trails. The park boasts a 3.1-mile loop perfect for runners, walkers, and cyclists. The course is well-maintained and provides a scenic route that winds around the park's picturesque lakes. The flat terrain makes it an excellent option for runners of all skill levels. Additionally, there are plenty of benches and rest areas along the trail, making it easy to take a break and enjoy the views. Another highlight of the park is its two lakes. The larger of the two is perfect for fishing with various fish. Fishing enthusiasts will appreciate the ample shade and easy access to the water. The park also offers fishing clinics for beginners, which is a great way to introduce newcomers to the sport. Beyond jogging and fishing, there are plenty of other activities at Chaparral Park. The park has a playground for children, sand volleyball courts, and a disc golf course. Picnic areas are scattered throughout the park, making it an ideal spot for a family outing or a picnic with friends. Overall, I highly recommend visiting Chaparral Park. It's a great spot to get outside, enjoy the Arizona weather, and participate in various outdoor activities. The park's natural beauty is breathtaking, and there is something for everyone to enjoy. Whether you're a runner, a fisherman, or just looking for a peaceful spot to relax, Chaparral Park is...
Read moreBeautiful man made lake with playgrounds for both kids and adults. The brand new playground they are currently constructing looks sturdy and so fun even an adult like me wouldn't mind a go on the spinning chairs. Basketball and volleyball courts are available and semi brand new but in perfect condition. The path that takes you around the perimeter of the lake is chalk full of exercise stops that are all inclusive with arm and leg days, for three day rotations with picture instructions and even online videos to watch. While walking, biking, blading, or jogging the path you will encounter flocks of geese and ducks wading and fishing in the water, nature at it's finest. Be sure NOT to feed any of the wildlife as it is a distribution to their natural migration patterns which can endanger the wildlife. Attached to the park, is the Chaparrel aquatic center. The pool is large and I believe open even in the winter for lap swimming. The summer time is a buzzing time at the pool with kids out of school, public swim days and even diving boards. This is a wonderful park, and I am so happy to live close enough to enjoy it...
