Saying goodbye to Saguaro is bitter sweet. We starting using Saguaro about 6 years ago for our 2 labs and Fox Hound rescue. Mike and John are equally great in their practice and their back office team is very competent and great with our boys. The issues we encountered and the reason we are taking our boys elsewhere is surrounding the front office. We spent $1000 to have a growth removed from our 13 year old lab and had his teeth cleaned. Money well spent. The last straw for me was the simple 1 minute procedure to get 1 stitch removed (I am an RN and could have done this, but due to liability I did not). They indicated they had no appts open and offered a walk in. When I got there, I simply gave the feedback that it would have been much more efficient for Saguaro, and for me, if they had just made the appt.when I picked up Carter after his surgery knowing now that I needed an appt just to get a stitch removed. The front office staff quickly stated "I do not want to argue with you, but you were told to make an appt and you failed to do that". In the time it was taking her to make her point, the stitch could have been removed. On principle and due to access to appts and front office disfunction (the ongoing issue for me is they have regular turnover at the frontdesk and they never seem to know us as regulars), we made the decision to change. I asked for Mike or John to call me and they deferred to the front office to call me back instead. So I did not have the opportunity to thank them for their kindness and share with them a real problem in this vet office. Hoping this post will prompt change as I really want these guys to have ongoing success. Clearly Saguaro has the business and John and Mike have a great reputation, I just was not comfortable they would be...
Read moreI am so grateful to have found Saguaro Veterinary Clinic. Dr. Emerson is truly exceptional â she always takes her time, never rushes through an appointment, and leaves the most thorough, detailed voicemail updates, which I really appreciate. Today, she recommended a same-day cold laser treatment to help my dog feel and walk better, and once again, she made sure all my questions were answered with such compassion and honesty. She exemplifies the mission of the practice by providing truly effective, caring veterinary care.
The entire team is wonderful â every vet tech is polite, professional, and incredibly helpful. Theyâve even carried my dog inside for me and brought my bill out to the car so I could keep the air conditioning running for her comfort. They are always prompt and kind in returning my voicemails, texts, and calls, which makes a huge difference when youâre caring for a beloved pet.
I never feel rushed here, and Iâm so thankful they do their best to fit us in when cancellations come up. Itâs rare to find a practice that treats both pets and owners with such genuine respect and kindness. Thanks to Saguaro Vet, I feel confident that my dogs are receiving the best care to stay healthy and live long,...
Read moreOn July 20, 2020 I took my 1 year old cat, River to see Dr. John because she hadn't eaten all weekend, was lethargic, and just not herself. I had called, and was told to use the AirVet app to describe the issue and Dr. John would call me. He did and advised that I bring River in at 8:30 AM. I did that. She was taken in and I waited there in the parking lot for over 5 hours (I had to call out of work). I never got an update the entire time she was there. I finally got a call that River had elevated liver enzymes, was given fluids, anti emetic, and injected antibiotics and I could bring her home. I got her home and my cat couldn't even move! I called Saguaro again and they told me "it's likely a side effect of the medication and should subside in a few hours". 20 minutes later I took her to VetMed emergency hospital, and 10 minutes later she was gone. I had been seeing Dr. Ketchmark, and then Dr. John for 2 years before this. I am very disappointed in how this emergency situation was handled. It is not ok, AT ALL, to not give any updates and make a person wait 5+ hours to get any info. I am now taking my other cat to a different...
