It was a little over grown in current areas BUT this place is huge and awesome. We were visiting from the Tri-Cities and I always try and stop a least one new dog park when ever we travel. We were a little unsure about it when we were driving looking for it because it's behind a residential neighborhood. Then when we parked we weren't sure where to enter since there are two entrances. One to the left where it's open and you just walk in (no gates for opening and closing to keep the pups contained) and the second entrance is on the right of the parking area and looks like a trail threw dense forest. We initially went to the right since their were no cars park there thinking it was a big dog yard and a little dog yard setup. We were hoping for a little space while we got a good look at the park before greeting other dogs. After getting the out and taking a look at the entrance I was like "nope, that looks like somewhere in the movie where you yell at the characters 'Don't go in there!!! You'll die!" So I hopped back in the car and parked on the other end with all the cars. I was worried about the no gate thing but once we got inside I could see why it probably wasn't necessary... THIS PLACE IS HUGE! It has TWO levels! The upper plateau is mostly open space with a few benches for humans to enjoy the view the upper level provides of the city & lower level. The second/lower can be accessed by a walking path that connects the two levels OR by 2 enterances. The first way to get down there is threw that dense forest entrance I mentioned earlier & the second is from a staircase just to the right of when you walk in the main entrance. We LOVED the second level! It had agility objects to play on for her (I posted pictures) and she loved them! It was the first time she has ever walked on a beam. She had so much fun! Thank you to the people who created this park and maintain it!! I'm so jealous because I wish our dog park at home had these fun toys!
So to conclude: 1) it's one big space. There is no dedicated small dog space or big dog space. Everyone shares together. (2) it's worth the trip to use the toys (3) it's BIG so wear walking shoes (4) nice views to enjoy for the humans while sitting on a bench
I hope this...
Read moreThis park definitely lives up to its name and in my opinion wins the award for prettiest view from a dog park! Wow, and don't forget to go to the Upper part of the park overlooking the lower part to get a perfect view of the valet and Mount Rainier on a nice clear day, and have your dog sit on the spool for perfect pet photos. There are several several locations here at this park for beautiful scenery photography. We brought our dog here on this day and well there was no lack of socialization here and responsible owners to boot. The parking is a little lacking though and a little muddy. Other than that it was a gorgeous and fun experience for our dog. The water barrels were supplemented by rain gutters and lots of trash cans and poop stations all over the place. Just keep in mind, there are signs that state this park (with both an upper and lower field) run and maintained by volunteers. The areas were large and dog friendly with sand on the ground, which I appreciate. I don't understand comments where people say their dog was attacked at this park and gave them a one star, that is not a constructive review for it has nothing to do with the park itself. That sort of thing can happen at any dog park and does unfortunately. If we didn't live so far away we would probably could be coming to this dog park every single day if not...
Read moreI visited this dog park driving through the area. We arrived a little after 8 am on a rainy Friday. Less than 10 dogs, all in a pack (owners and dogs) all large. Info on the park says it's 37 acres...I'm not sure where it all is, but looks more like 10 to me, max. There are3 distinct areas...an upper area that leads to a covered pavilion mid - park and the lower park has a small grassy area, one big sandy area that includes a small agility set up (AframeX2, weave poles, jumps and tire obstacles). The agility area is a nice touch and well thought out. Water at the top. Connects to a small trail that leads to neighborhood streets (that were a reprieve for me from the pack). If the sun were out the views would have been incredible. I was told there is a regular crowd every day at 8 am. My dog, though a large female lab, is very submissive and had to defend herself 2x. Owners were not upset she did so, but they also didn't bother to break anything up. Since they are daily playmates, the pack mentality is dangerous for strangers so keep that in mind. Note if you're familiar with Maymoor, this is at best half the size of that park and not nearly as diverse a topography. My dog grew bored with this park after two attempts to interact with the local pack. I would not visit again unless it was off hours and I didn't have any other...
