The good: Beautiful creek, quiet, nobody else there, paths are a range of DIY ruins (which I like), nice foot bridges at Eastern end of paths The bad: Steep / slippery / muddy, not for the less nimble, no open spaces / views / sun, homeless encampment under bridge at W end of path Maybe good if you are nearby and want creek access for kids to play, although I'd be wary of the water quality. Shame we have open spaces like this and aren't maintaining them.

Nice little hiking area that makes you forget you’re in the city! Very, very muddy in the winter, plus a stream crossing if you start at the trail head. Wear hiking boots or rubber boots! And know that your dogs will leave muddy! :)

You could almost convince yourself you are deep in the Cascades here. Check out the trails that amble along Thornton Creek and neighboring hillsides, what a delight right in the heart of the city.

Absolute oasis near Northgate! You get the impression the neighborhood doesn’t want to share the secret on this great bit of woods. Trail heads are somewhat hidden and the path is slightly overgrown but this a lush green belt rich with life. Be like the spotted Barred Owl I saw and enjoy the creek - even if the...
