Othello Playground — Attraction in Seattle

The park itself is nice, however homeless are a big problem here! They come and trash the park and keep setting fires in the bathrooms, making a huge mess, doing drugs and flooding them. One particular homeless man literally lives under the roof of the restroom building right next to the children's playground for many months now. Piles of trash brought on by homeless are insane! Some residents around the park are irate after discovering today that the same homeless man has set fire in the man's restroom, women's bathroom has been flooded. This is second time that these bathrooms are on fire in 1 year. Last time it was many months before the city opened the bathrooms after the fire...so a lot of people adults and children would go to the bathroom outside right at the park...under the trees and bushes. Our city's officials are doing a horrible job at keeping our city clean and safe!!! If the city officials think that they can get away with this that are wrong! Neighbors are mobilizing against the homeless man who keeps doing it and actually all homeless as there are constant flow of them and 99% of which leave piles of trash and destruction. This park held the 1st Juneteenth Celebration and it was lit! I missed the proceeding Juneteenth events but I did manage to make it to the 1st. This park is pretty big. 2 playgrounds- one for smaller kids and another for bigger kids. Has baby and kid swings. My kids made a couple friends their last visit. Met nice parents at the park as well. The unhoused do visit this park as well so your visit may be shorten depending on how safe you feel. One of my favorites place to go and enjoy with my family, friends, and meet new peoples sometimes. It’s very nice place for peoples who love playing basketball, walking, running, kids playground, barbecue etc...... there is a restroom nearby.
