Beautiful and modern library. Huge selection of books with almost anything you could think of. They have a huge kids section including toys and puppet theaters, giant games like connect four, and lots of books on little shelves kids can reach. They also have great private meeting rooms with tables and whiteboards that you can reserve. In the event room there is something new every day. There are art exhibits, kids shows, free classes, and concerts for the family. Great place for studying or working and has a variety of cool seating options in quiet areas of the library. There is also a teen section where they host teen events, have 3D printers, and a cool hangout space. There are also video game systems and books for teens. The librarians are all very nice and helpful and the books are in AMAZING condition. I highly recommend taking the whole family to this library. Located along highway 96, it is a very accessible location and neighbors the Mounds View public schools district office and the Shoreview Community Center. If you live in the area or are visiting, this library...
Read moreImpressive library. It has a really wide selection of books, including many that are in high demand and usually checked out at other Twin Cities libraries, and even a handful of children's books in Braille. There were tons of community resources, including a 3D printer and sensory-friendly Sunday mornings. The building design is very modern and features huge windows to let in natural light, a teen hangout area, and a variety of comfy seating options. There is a mural, lots of plant-themed artwork, and a really fun chart showing different book characters' heights near the kids section! Also, they were successfully running an early voting service from the library when I was there, which can't be easy....
Read moreI was initially excited about the new library, but have visited it and been unimpressed. The old library had a quieter and more inviting interior. I used to be able to read books in chairs that were tucked away from other people, overlooking beautiful old oaks and green grass, but now everything overlooks a busy road. Everything is more open now, which some may like, but feels like a lack of privacy to explore a stack of books. The are study rooms available, but they don't have exterior windows and those types of rooms have always seemed confining to me. It feels uninviting to me and like the interior will look dated in a few years. I don't see myself hanging out here - which to me, is important...
