Shrewsbury Public Library — Attraction in Shrewsbury

The library itself is very nice, however, I was walking around seeing what everything was as my first time there and a little later ended up walking around the kids area. As soon as I stepped foot in there, the lady at the desk gave me a very dirty look as if I was doing something wrong. Keep in mind there were several other teenagers (girls) who didn’t seem to have a problem. I was with two friends at the time. At first she asked if we needed help finding anything, with almost an aggravated tone, and we said no we were just looking around. While we got towards the back end of the area she walked up to us again, confronted us asking “Are you sure you don’t need any help finding something? The area back there is restricted”. Keep in mind there were already people there and beyond that point. We did nothing wrong but just because we were a group of teenage boys she assumes we were up to no good. Our library couldn't get much better. The new and exciting building was opened in September 2016. It is state-of-the-art all the way with a space for just about anything you can dream about doing. There are group study areas and rooms, lots of causal seating to get comfortable with a book, a wonderful children section with so much to do you could spend every day there. At the heart of this facility is the staff, who serve the public each and every day and are always available to help you in any way. This place is a gem and should be enjoyed for many years to come. Honestly I only been there when I was in 8th grade at oak middle school after it was first done. And I thought it was going to be a regular library but no. It was a very calming experience and the technology was way more than expected. The WiFi was fast. Yes people looked at me and I’m pretty sure it was cause I was the only lightskin girl there but I loved everything.
