Service was delightful and easy-going.
I had two dishes: the wild arugula salad and gnocchi d’Abruzzi. I liked the fact that the salad is served at the same time with the pasta (quite Italian of them).
The salad had everything you needed for a good salad — freshness of the vegetable (arugula), crunchy pecans, sweet dried berries, salty Gorgonzola. Simple things with various textures make a great salad.
The gnocchi dish however was unfortunately subpar. Gnocchi was overcooked — gooey and no longer fluffy. While I appreciate the portion on the veal, mushroom, and the sufficient garnish such as sun dried tomatoes, I cannot fathom the finesse on the artichokes. They were tough and too big for a bite size. Their salty tastes (can’t seem to be fresh but more likely canned but understandable as it’s not artichoke season) have contributed to the overall overwhelming saltiness of the dish. It becomes off-putting after three bites. My suggestion is to cut the artichoke into bite size and fully rinse before reducing them together with the sauce. This dish has so much potential. I look forward to coming back to taste this...
Read moreWhere do I begin! We arrived at 6:45 for our reservation. At 7:15 we were still waiting for someone to come over to take our drink order. My boyfriend got up and went to the hostess table to let them know we we were still waiting. When our waitress finally showed she took our order. She never offered us any bread. At 8:00 we were still waiting on our meals. Finally at 8:15 I asked to speak to a manager. He came over and said he'd check on our meals. A few minutes later the waitress came back and said they were were going to comp our meals. 8:25 still nothing. At this point we were ready to get up and leave & then the waitress finally came with our meals. My boyfriend got the risotto with steak, literally looked like soup and I ordered angel hair with chicken and eggplant. It had zero flavor & the eggplant was awful. So literally we waited this long and then didn't even get a half decent meal. The waitress had the nerve to bring us a bill for our 2 soda waters totaling $8.50 I have never been treated so poorly and never waited that long before at any restaurant. The manager was incompetent. He should have been checking on the entire restaurant and filling in where needed. So...
Read moreIt was a Sunday night. I had been out doing errands all day, and was looking forward to some delicious Bolognese from Amici’s. When I arrived at the restaurant, two girls were perplexed as to where my order was, they could not find it in the register. I called it in, and paid for it over the phone. Also, they could not find that it had been charged to my credit card when it was called in. I asked them to get my order and give it to me so I could leave. They could solve the rest of their issue afterwards. When I got my mail home, I opened it and found a burnt sausage, literally, it was black. and a meatball. Too much pasta (more is not better), had absorbed most of the sauce, which was sparingly added to the dish. The burnt sausage made everything taste burnt. I dumped it out onto a platter and try to salvage some of it as I had not eaten all day. The rest went down the garbage disposal. Not happy that I chose to get my dinner there and $25 went down the drain. I plan on contacting the restaurant and asking for a gift card to cover this. I feel there is no excuse for this disgusting takeout meal. Extremely disappointing. Amici’s will not be my first choice for takeout...
