I LOVE this seemingly boring soccer complex. It has nearby access to the river. They main thing I like about this park is the Jazz-Fest. Its a FREE outdoor concert that has TWO stages simultaneously during a three or four night long mostly rock and roll party. I went a few years ago to see Joe Walsh...it was an amazing show. Many other well known musicians have a show during the Jazz-Fest. It always end with a grand fireworks display. They serve beer, its a bit pricey, but that and the vendors are what pays the bill for the concert. So be sure to have a beer and some food so we can have it again next year. Besides the concert, this is the largest soccer complex around, maybe anywhere, I don't know, it seems that a hundred games can play at the same time, its that large. The city of Sioux Falls does a wonderful job of keeping it well manicured and clean. I've never seen it messy, even after an event, its cleaned up so fast you can't get a photo of it trashed. There is a jogging trail going along one side of the park, next to the river that is blacktopped that goes through the park, it continues all around the city for many miles, and it also is well cared for. It is a great place to have very large events, I believe it is one mile wide. It is bordered by the river on one side, and the interstate on the other side. It is well lit with modern restrooms lots of parking and different areas, plenty of trash receptacles. The roads are all paved and in great condition. The riverside of the park has a nice thick layer of trees that protect the park from the South Dakota winds. If you are seeking a place to hold a concert or very large gathering, consider...
Read moreYankton Trail park is home to many annual events, as well as sports tournaments, practices, and games. There is plenty of room for everyone here, and the parking is spread out enough to make entering and exiting much easier than it could be with so many people. The two entrances help the flow of traffic. Well lit and clean bathroom facilities on site with running water. One downside is not a lot of shade on the field, so bring your...
Read moreI purposely chose a home near the entrance to the park to be able to run on the trail. Sunset and sunrise are beautiful and as it turns green in the spring it is truly a wonder. Watch out for some illegal changes to the trail where people are adding beach sand in patches that would trip you as a runner in low light, and for barriers being built for mountain bikers that make it unpassable on foot. A great part of...
