Horrible Camp hosts on golf cart. We were visiting from NC and dropped our husbands off at the boat launch to meet their fishing guide. We stated at the front entry, that we would be coming back out to explore town while they were fishing. She informed us that we didn’t need a day pass since we were coming right back out. We were bombarded by the “Camp Host Karen” and her husband on a golf cart within 3 minutes of pulling up to the boat launch. They blocked us in with their golf cart and treated us as if we were criminals. I have never seen anybody more desperate for $20 in my life. We refused to pay to just drop them off. When we left, we were informed by the lady at the front desk that they are strictly volunteers and they were very sorry for them...
   Read moreCity of Soldotna are crooks. Don't go here, and don't support their tourism industry. I was charged for a day pass every time I came into this campground, during the same day (total of three times). When asked, the attendant stated that the day passes are only good for a few hours each.
I strongly suggest (and I'll be doing the same), that for subsequent salmon seasons, I'll be going to places where the name of the game is NOT to rip off out of towners. Skip Soldotna and Kenai. It has a beautiful environment and complete facilities. It has water and electricity. Each vehicle costs $30 per night. It's great for people who like salmon fishing.
