Slopes and snow is great but this entire operation is incredibly poorly run. Information about closed lifts and runs travels at snails' pace and I often found myself skiing towards lifts only to find them closed when I arrived after verifying with workers and patrol that they were open multiple times.
The real nightmare lies in getting back home. The main gondola closed early due to wind so our only option back to the village was the provided free resort shuttle. We queued in line around 3:00 pm, a full hour before the resort's stated closing time of 4:00 pm along with 35 or so others. The bus pulled up, loaded 24 skiers, and then left. A staff member told us that there would be no other shuttles for the remainder of the day and that the 15 of us were stranded at the bus stop. A full hour before the resort officially closed they cut off the shuttle. For a place that charges $169 per day to ski you'd expect a modicum of services.
Avoid it if you can, give the other great local places...

We appreciate the Free Heavenly shuttle on the Nevada side that drops at Heavenly StageCoach lodge. We hear there are free beer samples on the California side at Tamarack - we wish there were some on the Nevada side. Everyone is chill at Heavenly and the views are the best! Can't get enough - and there are plenty. A challenge Heavenly needs to address is their bus system. Currently, they do not have a bus between the Nevada side and the California side. Which is really odd since all the other Vail resorts we have visited have excellent bus systems. This is a real hassle for guests since one can get stuck on the wrong side when winds shut down the lifts for safety. I hope Heavenly addresses...

I was eager and ready to buy that pass, and sent more than 9 emails about it over the course of the next 5 months. They didn't reply for ages. Eventually after reaching out through Facebook and waiting on the help line for a combined total of 3 hours, they decided not to honor my discount for last season because I bought my pass that year from a school charity auction. I paid even more than full price, but because it wasn't directly from them they wouldn't honor it. So, I'm going with Sierra.
