We visited the Ridge Crest in November 2020 to get away from town during the pandemic and the elections. We booked a 1 bedroom suite with a partial kitchen for a family of four. There was a king bed in the bedroom and a pullout couch in the living room. The kitchen was considered partial, but it was equipped very well with a dishwasher, oven, stove, fridge, microwave, blender, coffeemaker, toaster, and a small selection of pots, pans and utensils. I wish they had better pans, such as a frying pan or Cookie sheets, but there was a dollar tree down the road to remediate some of this.||The room itself is a little dated and could use some updating, but it was great for a weekend getaway. It was VERY warm on the top floor, even in November when it was 30 degrees outside. We didn’t have to use the heater at all, so it is likely that the summer gets quite warm. Parking was right outside the building (not covered). Luggage carts are available. There’s an elevator. A shuttle service. Ski lockers. The lodge has a movie night for kids. Happy hour from 3-6. Delicious fries. Decent happy hour wine. A market at the lodge. There’s a small market around the block with many essentials. Also, if you are into winter sports, there’s is a Heavenly lift and lodge in walking distance from the room. ||We don’t have high expectations as travelers, and things that many might complain about don’t bother us. The resort has limited activities due to COVID and there are some amenities shut down for remodeling. And masks are required in all public areas. We knew that going in. However, there is plenty to do in the area. We went to the beach, played in the snow, and did a few hikes. South Lake Tahoe/ Stateline is a 7 mile drive down the road and there is plenty to do there. ||We enjoyed it enough that we would definitely go back soon, and are hoping to find a deal on a winter stay to...
Read moreOn our last leg of our honeymoon, and unfortunately the ridge Crest has been the worse place we have stayed. I only write this review to assist others when choosing lodging , and will update if our problem is resolved. we chose the ridge Crest because it had a small kitchen and when staying seven days that can be important. We knew when booking most amenities would be in main building....we did not know that the main building is not a quick walk away. IT is definitely a shuttle ride. That would not be so bad, but today, when the temps were a low of 19 degrees, we could not get hot water for a shower for more then five minutes. We couldnt yesterday as well. So after being outdoors two days in a row discing, hiking, ect.. we could not take a hot shower!! after two phone calls (from our phones, the room phones do not work at all) the lady at the front desk said she would send an engineer...hour later no one shows up and still no hot water and we are freezing ...third time calling back and we got security because front desk was done for the night. ok, we cant shower. The hot tub is not as advertised ...cleanliness was lacking. sauna does not work. ice machine is broken. Exercise bike, which is the "work out room" is out of order. Basically you can get more amenities and a hot shower from a cheap motel then this building. Security did log this and I will update review if this gets resolved and we get a call back tomorrow morning and can take a hot shower for more then 5 minutes... pros- security man, third person we spoke to, was cool. Shuttle driver is awesome...
Read moreI'll start by saying that we stayed as part of a promo weekend package so we didn't have to pay. However, I wouldn't suggest or return to the property even for a free stay.
The rooms have new finishes and were comfortable except for the noise and temperature. We had no ac in the middle of summer, so it was difficult to sleep. We had to leave windows open which made it noisy, especially if you're a light sleeper.
The walkways, stairs, and roof all show the buildings age from years of harsh winters. The sidewalk was so broken up from years of ice melt that I actually fell and sustained a bad sprain.
This property is also lacking in amenities. I was shocked that they didn't even have breakfast in the restaurant. At least with a holiday inn express, you can count on that.
Overall, we were severely disappointed and hope holiday inn brings this property up to...
