I’m not one to brag (much) but I’ve been a nanny for over a decade and after spending at least 50% of my life playground hopping, I feel I can tout myself as a playground connoisseur. More or less.
My first impression of this park: it’s haunted and bumming me out. Let’s leave.
We in fact did not leave. We stayed for over an hour. It was a nice day around 6pm and we were the only people there for almost that entire time.
This playground definitely was intended just to serve kids while their older siblings or whatever play a Sports Ball game.
If you’re actually setting out just to go to this playground, it’s a bit of a walk from the closest parking lot. I parked at the school but I don’t think I was supposed to. It’s not fenced in but you’re surrounded by a soccer field. The NJ Transit train rides directly above the park. This was cool for the 3 y/o with me but sort of quickly lost its charm— especially when the train blows it’s Very Loud horn. (Which, out of the 10+ times it passed, it only did once. It waited until we lowered our defenses.)
The playground equipment is fine. Not great for a smaller kid, and the actual section for little kids is pretty lame. It’s definitely kind of a dated park but it gets the job done.
The ground is bark mulch… And as a playground connoisseur? This is my least favorite type of ground. Who’s idea was it to use tiny, sharp chunks that stick to everything to cushion the clumsiest members of our population?
There was a ton of trash on the walk there though. My 3 y/o buddy kept trying to pick it up, and I kept asking her not to, which she replied with “Aw. I’m just trying to save da turtles…”
