Parks are parks right? Well, that really depends on your expectations and needs. Coming from N. CA, parks have unfortunately become a beacon for homeless and littered with discarded needles/trash. Not to mention both human and pet waste. Not trying to paint an ugly picture of the Golden State, but there is no denying what it has become.
Fast forward to Pah Rah Park since that's what this review is about. I'm not the first to say it's a great park. Easy to get to, plenty of parking both in the lot and on the school side entrance.
There are more than a dozen picnic tables and 5 play structures for those young and young at heart. Two horseshoe pits along with a couple of fenced in tennis courts and basketball courts.
The park is adjacent to an elementary school but it's kept separate by a fence, so no worries about your pet accidentally getting into the school. Wide open spaces allow for plenty of room to stretch out and maintain social distancing during these crazy times.
But in reference to my opening comments. Pah Rah Park is literally a breath of fresh air for two and four legged visitors. Not stepping over anyone or having to watch if children or pets accidentally come into contact with potentially infectious or hazardous materials.
Not all is perfect. Yes, there will always be those irresponsible pet owners who don't pick up after their pets, even at Pah Rah Park. So watch your step especially in the grassy areas. It's state law folks to clean up after your pets.
Nevada has been able to keep it's public parks healthy and for those like myself have fled what's become of the Golden State, DON'T forget...
Read moreI have been to this park many, many times. Often times I have been here with the local homeschooling community.
On the day I checked in I was here for a graduation party. It is the only park I know of where you can come and have a BBQ without having to have a permit.
This park is large and the play equipment has been revamped and is fairly new. There are two entrances into this park. The first one is off of Vista and the second entrance is off of Shadow Lane. The Vista entrance has a parking lot. You will have to park on the street if you go to the other entrance off of Shadow Lane. The variety of play equipment is good for most ages from the very little to older kids. There is a basketball hoops for practice, tennis courts, volley ball area with sand, horseshoe pit near the smaller kids equipment at the top of the Park near where the parking lot is located. There is covered tables both at the upper equipment and closer to the lower equipment. There is a ton of grassy space for blankets and kids. Bring a frisbee or other lawn toys for kids to play. There is a huge jungle gym, merry go round, swings etc.
I agree with other reviewers that the parking lot is hard to find as it looks like you are driving into a residential area. Keep driving around the corner and you will see the parking lot. This park is often packed on weekends. It is near Jerry Whitehead...
Read moreIt's pretty nice. Four play grounds in one park. Spacious, plenty of room for ppl to bbq. Three different areas with picnic tables. One downer is the bathrooms are only in one area so if you have little ones keep that playground closest to the restrooms in mind. The only thing that bothers me is how some of the other kids behave. One kid left the area with the seesaw so my kids were waiting their turn and when that child left my kids got on to play. About 2 min later the same child comes back yelling at my kids he was there first and they need to get off. I started laugh, keep in mind this child looked about 10. So I said no you can wait your turn, and let me tell you. The tantrum that child threw, I was honestly in disbelief. Honestly don't parents show other kids how to take turn and they don't own the park? Every parent is different, cool do your thing but come on, don't let this kid grow up thinking he owns everything. Anyways, still a cool place to play cause I play with my kids on the...
