Rail City Casino — Attraction in Sparks

One of Sparks best places to gamble and sometimes gets a fair amount of underhanded shade thrown their way. But to be as objective as possible. Personally I have had increasingly consistent positive experiences here.

My favorite thing about Rail City Casino is it’s small town vibe. This casino really is a locals favorite. Sure it may not be one of the first 5 spots those on Holiday would pick. This isn’t the casino you’re going to end up lost in. From a customer perspective the employees here seem to be more content, less edgy or smooth as some found working in the high rise casinos might be. To be fair I grew up in Reno (including some locations in Sparks) with a Dad who once ran security for Bill Harrah, working later as a manager for several casinos on Victorian Ave such as The Mint Casino, B St Gambling Hall, a handful of others & lastly as a Slot Manager at the once Silver Club. And Mother who went back to work after retirement at Boom Town. My favorite things to experience here are playing video poker, video keno while having a drink (Rob Roy or Shirley Temple sodas) with 1-2 friends.

Biggest complaint is out of the casino’s control and that would be location. This area of Sparks isn’t the most gentrified. And in keeping up with the small town vibe they do not have a built on site hotel here. Though you can find a variation of deals online (not offered by Rail City City) during your stay with Victorian Inn, Motel 6, La Quinta Inn and/or many others in the area to name a few examples.

My overall experience via maybe 10-15 visits here in past 6 months has been memorable & quant. I love visiting Rail City if it’s raining or snowing as well. I would recommend Rail City everyday over handing all your hand earned money to most of the casinos in Reno/Sparks area.

This Casino is Amazingly BAD!!!! Went for a job interview. Mainly to air some issues that I had had with Infinity 4 years ago. Went to meet the food and beverage manager at the Ale House Rest. I was early to check it out and eat. I checked in at the rest. A man approached me, but didn’t say anything??? I told him I had a 2:00 pm interview.( It was 1:40pm. ) I asked for a booth, He cleaned it and sat me . Didn’t say who he was. ( He was the food and beverage manager.) I sat and ordered a personal pizza at 12.99$ Jose came to the table and asked me what I would like to drink? I ordered sweet Tea at 5.00$??? I have attached pictures of the pizza. it was Six inches across with pre fab meat. When Jose brought the tea , I asked him for water and he rolled his eyes at me and grunted??? So I ate and at 2:10 pm I went to ask about the appointment. There was another man there that was going to interview me??? anyway the meeting was like a non interested , Just show up kind of disappointment in terms. I went over the issues. Being forced by management to serve a visibly drunk man not playing. The bar back jumping over the bar to access stocking, Cocktails asking for triple shots for VIPs. Not being able to clock in because they wouldn’t issue me a time clock card that worked. My relief showing up late. The answer was, ( It Happens ) I also addressed the out of control Cockroach infestation behind the bar, because there was no one cleaning, except me. The back bar wasn’t stocked and I was the only one stocking the cooler. And the bar back wanted me to tip out. It was Truckee gaming , Infinity and Now is Truckee gaming again. I explained that I have a Nevada gaming card , along with my Alcohol Card to protect. They don’t care. Corporate doesn’t override Nevada Gaming! Or the Police Card and verification process. They get Zero Out of 10 for treating their employees like numbers without being Human Beings. And to the face tatted food and beverage manager “ You are unprofessional on all levels” They push communication, But do not practice it! I could have bought Two pizzas for the price of the over priced mini doughy processed pie they push for...

Still homeless trolling on bicycles all night long in parking lot out back, not a safe feeling out there, but inside they busted up the casino remodeled the front bar, and brought in new games and are phasing out the ones we love, or whatever , they kept all the machines of keno, that had something wrong with them , why? Either they have spots can't be removed on interior glass the other one you can't auto play one doesn't accept money and another won't spin on slots but be glad you get to play on one, they ll be leaving , so will I for someplace with the machines I like, Dotty's & baldinis,they stay open all night rail city closes at 2am and then your out the door. Food not better or worse. And the special bands, someone needs to get their ears cleaned, yikes,unless you're incoherent. Or drunk. Entertainment not what it used to be . They really should consider renting their extra lot to the rose ballroom, since their customers fill the parking lot making the casino parking way out there, sometimes. Plus they would have control over where they park, and the local residents would not be opposed. It's far enough away,and extra revenue! What a concept. And their security responsible not yours. If they kept the restaurants open they might even get business from them as well because the bar doesn't have food there. But what do I know, I left here last new years got hot by a woman who said she never saw me! She turned left right in front of me ,it wasn't her turn ,she did pay to fix my car, kinda I lost a brand new aluminum radiator it cracked and couldn't be repaired but it looks fine. So it's no worse off. After drinking at the rose ballroom they tried telling me neither one had I.d. that was a lie get some form of i.d. or you may never find them I had to keep pushing it they don't let you drink in a bar with that many folks if you don't have i.d. you don't get to drink alcohol. Thought she was being slick and could maybe get away with it. Just glad my car isn't still...
