Van Horn Park — Attraction in Springfield

I love this park. It's been getting well fixed up in recent years, which has made it a wonderful place to go. A long trail for running, biking and dog walking. There's a play ground + water park for the kids and multiple fields for sports that are frequently used by local teams and schools. Fishing, though limited selection, can be done in the water (no swimming, no ice skating in winter.) New gazebo and construction on the play areas seems promising.

City park services keep the area pretty clean, though there are fire-pits and benches on a hill that are in shameful condition. There used to be a pond so polluted and trash filled it was green and smelly all year, but it's been cleaned which gives me hope for the hill.

Great area, go for fun or sport; don't go after dark, like any park. Watch out for ATV's which are not allowed but people...

With one of our kids going to the clinic at baystate hospital I decided to bring the rest of our kids here one day and now we stop all the time. It has excellent paths for kids to ride scooters, stop at a nice playground, nice courts and fields. They do a really nice job in my opinion at keeping this park clean, even throughout the length of the paved walking path it was kept up really nice. Feels like a pretty safe place for the kids. Park Really is awesome the park maintenance guy in charge is very friendly and helpful. The park lately has been taken over with people parking in cars smoking marijuana. Not here to judge but wouldn't you feel better doing it at your own home. Because after leaving the place they also leave their trash. These are mature people who should realize Mom isn't still cleaning up after them. Toss the trash in the cans not the park or...
