I have a love/hate relationship with this quaint little park overlooking the Mississippi. I often stop here on an early morning bicycle ride to take a break & watch the sunrise. What I despise is the mindset of park-goers who have defaced the building of Spanish architecture style; at least I think it’s Spanish. The city rehabbed the building a few years back. It even had working restrooms! That lasted all of about two weeks. The city provides several trash cans evenly spread throughout the park. But once again park-goers are either too lazy or too stupid to use them. I was there one morning when a city crew was picking up trash & dumping the cans. A car drove thru; the passenger rolled down his window & chucked a bag of trash right at the feet of a city worker mockingly shouting, “Here’s one for your collection!” Way to go citizens of St. Louis! #sarcasm 😛 It just goes to prove we can’t have nice things without someone mucking it up. Sigh…roll eyes. 🙄

This looks like it has lovely views of the river when the trees are green. There is a playground and walking path, with benches facing toward the river. We first visited in the winter and thought it might be scenic during the summer, but when we returned at that time, it was full of teenagers having an argument, homeless people, and some person changing their clothes in the middle of the playground equipment. The views of the river are nice but it isn't worth the hassle to see them.

This park has a nice playground, restrooms (which are currently closed), a concrete walking path, and limited views of the Mississippi River. There's also a small area of milkweed plants and flowers, which serve as a haven for our butterfly friends. Unfortunately, we found syringes and a 9mm bullet casing in the grass there. That was a bit of a bummer.

You see a lot at this park, just like Forest Park (next to the new playscape) a lot of men come here to "meet up" "follow each other" I've seen it more times than I can count. They've been doing it for years and years here and at Forest Park, long before the new playscape was thought of. It's not a kid friendly park off Bates and Broadway. A lot of parents think it is but just steer clear. It's so bad, I was here yesterday just taking a break between deliveries and cops literally crept past my car, inches away, almost hitting me just to look down in my car. I'm not sure why because they past me to turn around to do this. They are definitely focused on the wrong thing at this park. But these men will call the cops on you if they think its disrupting their time trying to "meet up"...

I love this park because you have one of the best unobstructed views of the river. The Arch is not easily accessible because of the construction this summer, but, this park continues to offer solitude amongst the city dwellers. If you are in need of a breath of fresh air go for a walk in this park. I went here with some friends in the Neothink Society and members of The Congregation Of Inspiration for a quiet moment at the end of a long hot day. We want to have an Ice Cream Social here on the 4th of July...
