My husband and I stopped by Your Place Diner last night for “Soul Food Sunday” dinner and crown royal shots. I like that we were able to call in our order and it was ready within 10 minutes. We had a great time. Hubby ordered beef ribs, turnip greens and spaghetti. I ordered neck bones, turnip greens and cabbage. The founder Mr. Dwayne Nelson gave me a courtesy order of spaghetti. The food was delicious. Dwayne’s beautiful sister Pam is an awesome hostess. I felt like I was at Sunday dinner at my grandparents or parents’ home. Plus we shared a great shot of crown royal.
On most days, you will be greeted by Dwayne’s stylish, talkative, welcoming wife Mrs. Vera (Hayes) Nelson. Vera makes everyone feel welcome (as does all of the Your Place Diner team). She is an exquisite interior decorator and superb lady (full disclosure…Vera is my friend and Godsister). It is great when you can brag on your friends with the truth. This couple loves God and people. They are a true testament to what hardwork, treating people well and trusting God can do.
Come join the Your Place Diner family tonight. There is a free event tonight Monday December 13, 2021 7p-11p. Check it out, you will be...
Read moreFrom the moment I walked in the door, I felt like I was invited into an old friends home for dinner. Everyone I saw have me a warm smile and did everything they could to give me a wonderful night out. The cook leaned out to see what we were in the mood for and told us the Jack Fish was his favorite. Of course, that's what I ordered, with spaghetti and potato salad for a side. These wonderful folks had the food on my table in front of me before I buzzer went off for me to grab it for myself. The bartender asked what my cocktail of choice was and I was pleased to walk away with an ice cold Modelo. The dining room was warm and inviting and had the vibe of Home. The exposed bare brick was as beautiful as it was spotless, the paint on the front wall was warm and comforting, and the lighting was playful and charming. The manager came and asked what we'd like on the TV as we began eating, and one of the owners stopped by to say hello and introduce himself. The food was so tasty! I had two huge Jack Fish fried perfectly, and the bottle of house hot sauce they gave me complimented it nicely. The spaghetti was well seasoned, I was surprised to find a bay leaf in mine, and the potato salad was creamy. As we wrapped up the meal, the owner stopped by to make sure we were happy and tell us about the coming events they have scheduled. Everyone knows the secret of cooking Soul Food is time and love. These folks know the secret for serving Soul Food is care and kindness. I walked in a total stranger and walked out feeling like an old friend. Can't wait to...
Read moreMe and my boyfriend went there on a Friday about 5pm. Walking in it looks like an old bar that all the old heads hang out at in my opinion. The music was blasting old school music. I only seen one person at a table and a door dash girl. I expected it to be a lot of people from the reviews. The host was an older lady she was nice maybe she was the owner. She is sat at a table separate from the bar. The music was soooooooooo loud for it to be 2 people AND the room we were in had the speakers in it. 🙄 She was nice enough ask if we wanted the music lowered and I said “YES please”. She took our order then left and a younger man came up (seemed like the cook) and got our order. The music went from low and comfortable to blasting and annoying CONSTANTLY!!!! Like a child turned the volume up every time you turned it down. Started giving me a headache. I looked at my boyfriend and said “if they blast the music one more time we leaving.” We were there about 15 min total before I got fed up and decided to walk out. Oh I forgot to mention we didn’t even get our drinks. We told the hostess that we were leaving because of the music. She told us they started making the food already. I apologized but we had to leave. We made it to the door and a seemingly drunk woman came and apologized for tuning the music up. She said she’s a regular customer there and she like to hear her “jams” EVEN AFTER SHE WAS TOLD to stop touching the volume by the owner. She didn’t mean to offend us and have her lose customers. I told her no harm was done but we...
