My husband and I just had the most delightful experience at the Speakeasy! We flew in early so we’re looking for a cozy coffee shop, and the photos of this place looked so inviting that we stopped in.

To our delight, Michael, the owner, was there and gave us a tour and history of the building and all he’s done to turn it into a lovely spot.

We enjoyed some delicious coffee, tea, pastries, and avocado toast while we continued to chat with Michael, his fiancee, and barista.

During our morning visit, many regulars and new customers alike came in and were welcomed with the same genuine kindness that we experienced. What a joy to witness!

There’s no doubt that the Speakeasy is the heart of this neighborhood, and whether you’ve been coming by since they opened or are newbies like us, you’re made to feel...

The miserable weather finally broke & I needed to get out. This little place was close & I stopped in, not expecting to find such a charming & unique coffee spot! The owners were very friendly, the latte was hot & I wanted to explore. The basement has a Lion, Witch & the Wardrobe theme to it along with your classic speakeasy decor. Play chess downstairs or walk through the wardrobe to find another room to have a cosy conversation. Today would be a perfect day to sit outside in the shade of their covered patio to catch up with friends or meet for a date. I only had coffee but they did have some specials for a light lunch. There should be more people tbh ❤️. Please come here to enjoy a cup...

Is it possible to fall in love with a coffee shop? It is, indeed. I happened to be in the area and this place popped up in my search for some coffee, little did I know I would be discovering a favorite spot. The breakfast turkey sandwich was amazing, and the mint mocha was delicious. But, the atmosphere transported me to a time where everything felt calm and warm. Michael was amazing and this felt as if I was visiting an old friend. A couple other customers came in while I was waiting for my order and no one was a stranger here. The friendliness, warmth, and coziness of it all gave me the feeling that community still exists. What better feeling than that to go with...

Stopped in for a coffee meeting and immediately felt like I’d found one of St. Louis’s best-kept secrets. Speakeasy Café has this wonderfully eclectic vibe. And then there’s the wardrobe. Yes, an actual wardrobe with a hidden room. It’s straight out of Narnia, only instead of snow and lampposts, you’ll find a cozy little space that feels made for great conversation and creative ideas. Curious if they rent this space out or if it can be reserved in the evenings. I had a hot tea. The staff couldn’t have been nicer, and the whole atmosphere just invites you to stay awhile. I came for a meeting and ended up wishing I didn’t have to leave.
