Beautiful Corinthian column water tower that is currently the oldest and tallest left remaining of its kind in the world. Architectural beauty like this really doesn't exist anymore in the 21st century so I had to check it out for myself. A really breathtaking view comes into focus if you are coming off of I70 and turning onto Grand. It almost pops up out of nowhere, then, there it is in all of its majestic glory waiting to greet you. Don't sleep on this historical treasure and many others in the area! St. Louis has to be one of the most beautiful cities in the United States.

Still standing!! It is the oldest extant water tower in St. Louis, pre-dating both the Bissell Street Water Tower and the Compton Hill Water Tower.(Wikipedia) The tower was built in 1871 by architect George I. Barnett in the form of a Corinthian order column with brick, stone and cast iron trim.

This is the oldest existing watertower in Saint Louis. Built in 1870, it looks like a giant Greek column with a Corinthian capital. This 47 meter tall standpipe watertower is the tallest free-standing corinthian column in the world. Nice to see such historical structures.

Very interesting architecture, one of 3 left in the city. Just a word of caution before you go, this IS a very dangerous area -- and not just because locals don't know how to use a roundabout. I got interested in local architecture because I always waited here to buy H back in 2010 -- it was not 5/5 stuff. Don't flash expensive phones or drive a pricey car when you go. Due to carjackings, if you see an out-of-place stop sign or a group of people standing near one, consider a rolling stop (use your best judgement.) Especially don't look lost or indecisive. Check out the Bissel Water Tower just a few blocks away. I'd suggest the water tower on SOUTH Grand, called the Compton Hill Water Tower. It has stairs and windows. My dad took me up to the top in 1999 during renovations. We were one of the last people to be in...

For real I'm not even sure why they want me to review this, but I will. You can not enter or buy tickets to this place. This is not a safe neighborhood and I would not recommend visiting this landmark. Especially, if you have children. This is a gang infested, illegal dope selling, car jacking neighborhood. Enter at...
