Crunch Fitness - Stanhope — Attraction in Stanhope

This location provides a horrible experience from start to finish. I had set up a family plan when the gym originally opened in our neighborhood before they even opened. I personally went in to cancel all memberships that were paid on my credit card many years ago. I recently noticed they were still billing my credit card 5 years later for my youngest daughters account which all along I thought was cancelled. They have collected the money on my card even though I cancelled the membership when my daughter was a minor. I simply wanted to cancel the membership as we no longer would workout here for other reasons as well, such as staff turnover, machine repairs and cleanliness as a real issue back then. I co signed at the time for the membership as a parent for all of my kids. Which the other two were cancelled at the time as they should have been but someone there dropped the ball and never cancelled the membership for my youngest. ok mistakes happen. But yet I cannot cancel the account as a parent for what was originally co signed by me when she was a minor and they kept billing me. How corrupt. I then wanted to cancel the account for the second time now that she is an adult and i found these charges on my card. They claim she must come in person or send certified mail. They entered in an agreement with a minor and expect the person to jump through hoops to cancel when she is away at College. IT was ok for me to provide payment and co sign but not to cancel since i am the one paying. Even though I cancelled all other accounts in the past for all other 4 people in the household as to when this was suppose to happen the first time. They have without my consent after cancelling the first time billed my card since 2018. Be careful of sending your high school students here for memberships as they seem to prey on minors signing contracts excepting payment from the adults but don't allow the adult actually paying to cancel the membership. Just be careful, they will steal your money for 5 years then claim i cant cancel for her, even though they entered into an agreement with a minor. There are much better gyms in the area i suggest any of those over this experience. my mistake i did not notice this sooner on my bill. I was not even looking for credits, i just wanted to close out and stop...

Have been going here for years! And it is a fantastic place!

If anything shocks me about this establishment is how well they are growing. Since I've been going I've witnessed any of the negative employees be replaced by none other than bright, cheerful and informative employees. The establishment is very well kept 99 percent of the time, let's be real how many of you can say you wouldn't be overwhelmed by the amount of people who just leave their trash around and don't wipe the macheines down after using, and miss something as little as all the employees here do. And hell if you see something wasn't wiped down, there are many wipe dispensers available, it won't kill you if you wipe it down before using it.

The prices are beyond affordable and quite cheap for what you get. I am there for a few hours every morning and every afternoon nearly every day and am always greeted with a smile and sent off with a pleasant "enjoy your day" when leaving. I also train with one of their trainers and she is fantastic. I'm in the best shape I've ever been in and I really couldn't be happier.

They are always very punctual and open on time and really don't close before 11 on weekdays even though I'm sure they'd rather be home or working out themselves, they always stay true to their hours. That is unless it's unsafe for travel out. I mean come on have you seen their driveway? I don't know how some people are okay risking the lives of people trying to run a business over the weather and wanting somewhere to workout. If they are closed it's usually because it isn't safe to drive and you probably shouldn't be driving either.

As far as no fresh air, I'm not sure where the assumption a gym isn't going to be at least a little humid came from. Have you seen the amount of people that have been there recently, it's hard to not get...

Management changes like underwear and billing practices are shady! I am not happy at all with Crunch , I find the staff rude and the management very unprofessional. I have been billed without permission several times and when I call to speak to a manager one is never available and they never call back. I have been waiting two weeks for manager to call me back. I called again today as usual no manager available. They do not email you a courtesy reminder about yearly fees. I am canceling our membership they just lost three..

this is new in addition to previous : I have been a member since they first opened and this gym is truly horrible as far as billing and staff issues go.We cancelled our account with a young man over the phone and left a message for Charmain whom never called me back this was in May of 2016. Low and behold I got collection letters for not only me and my husband but my 14 year old son two days ago!!! 14 he was not even old enough to sign up the requirement is 16 yet you send a child to collections trying to ruin his future credit. The account has now been removed because he is a CHILD and NEVER signed anything.. But they will not delete the balances on my husband and I because their BS contract says you have to cancel a certain way and because the children they have working there don't know the rules, I as the consumer is at fault which is horrible.The kids that work there are rude untrained and not capable of handling adult situations and are always left unattended. There is never a manger on the premises, They truly suck as a whole I would never recommend them to anyone. I had to cancel my credit card and block them from my checking because they will just bill and bill...
