For the past 20 years I have wanted to visit Silver Falls, but busy days turn into months and then years. I finally went with my wife for our 20th anniversary. I was overwhelmed with how amazing of a place this is. I know Multnomah Falls gets all the attention, but I would definitely say that Silver Falls is by far superior. With it's large parking lots, spacious grounds, historic buildings, restaurant and gift shop, everyone will find something they can appreciate. But not even the most blasé person will be able to hide their awe while standing just a few feet behind thousands of gallons of water falling in front of them! The trails are kept in excellent condition. Pay attention to the trail rating signs for difficulty. The falls exist because of a canyon and the trails go up and down the canyon by switchback inclined or stairs. Whatever your physical abilities you will find a comfortable place to enjoy...
Read moreWe typically park at the South Falls and the roughly 4 mile loop to see a majority of the best waterfalls. The longer loop goes to all 10+ falls. If you don't want to hike, you can also get a great overhead view of one of the biggest falls a short walk from the South lot. Public bathrooms are available too.
The greenery here is magical and can be enjoyed almost year-round! Just be sure to wear decent shoes, as the trail is often a little damp regardless of weather.
