We first went to Berkshire Theatre Group last year to see Godspell. We were so impressed with both the production and how everything was managed we knew we had to return this year. We double booked with them to see The Importance of Being Earnest on a Friday and then Norm Lewis on a Saturday. First the play: the Unicorn is a really intimate, cute theater. You really can’t have a bad seat. The play itself was fantastic. We knew we wanted to see Harriet Harris and she did not disappoint! Every line delivered to perfection. The entire cast was excellent and we really enjoyed ourselves. I also must mention how amazing the staff are. I had reached out ahead of the show with some specific things I needed help with and I was greeted like a VIP and escorted right to a seating arrangement that worked best for me. I believe it was Corey Cavenaugh who was so unbelievably helpful the entire evening (if I got the name wrong I am very sorry) even loaning us an umbrella to get to our car. I had asked if there was any opportunity to “stage door” and meet Harriet Harris. I was told not at this time due to current guidelines which I completely understood. To my very pleasant surprise today I received a playbill signed by Harriet Harris along with a kind note from the general manager, Corey. The thoughtfulness of this really blew me away. We had already determined that we are going to make the Berkshire Theatre Group productions an annual trip. This definitely solidified that plan! Now for Norm Lewis. The voice, the personality, such an amazing show. He is so entertaining. He is so friendly and funny that you almost forget that in a moment he is going to floor you with his gorgeous voice that has such range and depth it is almost seems magical. And for the record he would be much better in The Music Man than Hugh Jackman! Everything was so well organized at this event as well. Every staff you come into contact with is happy to answer any questions and help in any way possible. Overall we truly enjoyed ourselves at both events and a lot of that is because of the staff at both locations. We can’t wait to...
Read moreJust saw “Outside Mullingar” in our first visit to the Unicorn Theatre of The Berkshire Theatre Group, and it was as good as live theatre can get. It is an intimate theatre with the farthest row from the stage being closer than most large theatre orchestra seats. The location and building, itself, are simply charming, the staff is very friendly, and the sound, lighting, and set designs are first rate. “Outside Mullingar” was exceptional with fantastic performances by all four actors who had exceptional timing and chemistry, both individually and as an ensemble. There were very touching moments and high drama with several comedic lines mixed in, in a highly captivating and entertaining performance. I would see it again in an instant, and highly recommend it to...
Read moreThe Unicorn Theater was the only stage I visited at this location but what I saw was beautiful. The entire property is very nice and the parking is easy. When you enter the theater it is very clean and simple, no frills just a comfortable, small auditorium with a very intimate feel as you watch the play. The production was brilliant and the set was complex and made from high-quality props. I would recommend attending a production here if you enjoy excellent theater at a small venue and are willing to pay the premium for the...
