Creative and fun experience with great staff and unique challenges.
I went with my 70 year old father who LOVES escape rooms was SO excited to experience the Merlin's Vision room, and it did not disappoint. I was intrigued as to how an escape room would work with "no locks, just magic", and this particular room far exceeded my expectations. The puzzles were challenging, and the humorous ways that clues were rendered when we needed help was exceptional. I never expected to be concocting an actual potion to pour into a cauldron as part of the game, either, but what a great and unique touch! A great surprise at the end was our game master, Serena, giving us a card with the memorable and funny things that we said to each other while working through the room. We had some really good laughs recounting our experience to family and friends. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we ended up booking another room, the Spy2K, for the following day. There is a same day booking discount that was a nice perk for that.
The Spy2K room had plenty of locks, some insanely creative triggers, and a lot of great 90s nostalgia. As a someone who graduated high school as part of the millennial class of 2000, I thoroughly enjoyed myself. There were some really challenging things we had to work through that were super creative and very well set up. It was a lot to work through with just 2 people, and we came very close to not being able to complete it in time, but we felt pretty amazing when we finally solved everything with just over 2 minutes to spare. The use of real technology from the 90s that has now been rendered mostly obsolete was incredible, and there was 90s music pumping into the room the entire time. I loved finding all the fun "artifacts" from the 90s every time we got a new drawer or cabinet or case open. Everything felt and truly was authentic and quite a bit like getting to relive an hour of my high school days. Again, the clues rendered always had a touch of humor, and our game master, Stella, did not disappoint with the funny and memorable moments she listed on our card once we solved the room. Escape the Pike truly has great staff.
Before we left we found out that Escape the Pike is currently building a new room called The Cabin that looks like it's going to be another amazing experience whenever it opens. I would definitely recommend Escape the Pike to anyone in the southern Massachusetts area who is looking for a good solid...
Read moreFinding ourselves with a free evening in Sturbridge this past weekend, we decided to book an escape room after dinner. Between the two of us, we've done ~40 rooms, so you can say we were a pretty experienced pair. When we called to make the reservation with only a few hours notice, Meg was very helpful in recommending the Merlin's Vision room based on our group size and experience.
Upon arrival, we were greeted by Meg and her beautiful pup, Ruby! We got a quick start to the room and were off!
The room itself was not what we expected (in a good way!) and proved to be quite challenging. However, with the cleverly designed clues when we asked for them, we were able to complete it with ~5 minutes left.
Something new to us was having the game master read back some 'memorable quotes' from when we were in there! What a fantastic idea that gave us a few good laughs!
After we had debriefed on the room, Meg was gracious enough to spend about 15 minutes afterwards chatting with us about some general escape room questions we had, and sharing experiences from other rooms we had all done. We also learned that Meg and her husband are veterans, so we were even more pleased to have supported a veteran-owned business!
I cannot recommend Escape the Pike highly enough! My only regret is that we live ~5 hours away and won't be able to experience the other rooms until I find myself in the...
Read moreI've been to a lot of escape rooms throughout different locations over the course of a few years, probably somewhere around 40 or so different rooms. Escape the pike easily is one of the BEST escape room locations I've been to in a long time. Me and my significant other did a "mini marathon" of rooms, 3 of them to be exact (Spy2k, Son of the Zodiac Killer, and Podunk) and wow were we impressed. The rooms have clearly have a massive amount of thought behind them, every room was challenging and difficult, but in a few and rewarding way, what's most interesting is every room was challenging in a different way. No spoilers but I HIGHLY recommend trying multiple rooms as each has a unique challenge to it, puzzles, physically, and mentally speaking. The owners were also fantastic, extremely friendly and helpful letting us play the room at our pace regarding hints and nudges, without breaking immersion of the rooms themselves. That's really difficult to do. I absolutely will be back with my significant other to finish the last two rooms we need to complete, and most likely we will be bringing friends to try and tackle the rooms we've already completed, to see how they do and approach them, the rooms were that interesting I'd happily just watch my friends try to beat them. So if you're reading this and debating going, this is your push to do so. Seriously, you...
