Attended Sunday 11:00 service last week. It's a large church. Much of the people in attendance are under 40. Service started with an intro, hello, and prayer and then a few modern Christian songs played and sung with a 9 piece Christian Pop/Rock band. Lyrics are shown on 2 large screens. We were told the papers under all our seats are a survey about how we feel about the church and we were asked to fill them out. Then a few minute run through upcoming events and such, then introduced today's presentation, which is part of a weekly series. The rest of service was watching the screens with a guy talking about in this case why 'if the bible says it, that settles it" doesn't work and what does work. After service, I asked a church helper if today was usual for service, with the pastor speaking a bit and otherwise mostly screen time? He said yes today was a typical service and explained how the weekly series works and that the video presenters aren't church members. I like the feel good atmosphere of the church, but feel that the church is severely lacking if the church doesn't have anyone who can regularly give sermon, have any more then (that day, not even) a few one liners to inspire, educate and strengthen. It comes off as a cop-out and not fulfilling what our modern 'canned', prefab, one size fits all, impersonal,...
Read moreJust a guy from the south passing on through. Figured I’d give this church a shot. First thing I noticed.. maybe 2 people walked in with a Bible. 🤷🏻♂️ hey, it’s 2025 maybe people use the Bible at church or their phone. No bibles in my seating area. Second thing to throw me off was the game show theme we had going on before the message started. No idea how that’s rolled into the message of greed. Felt like I’m in a Mike Todd sermon. Third thing to catch my attention was the Pastor’s statement, “we were created to chase after some things.” Not sure where in scripture that verse is but that’s not biblical. And Red Flag 🚩 for me is seeing a MAN STAFF MEMBER wearing multicolored nail polish on his fingernails!? Absolutely no justification for that. Sorry but I wouldn’t recommend coming here. The congregation needs to address that nonsense, like yesterday! Scripture was quoted maybe twice during the whole sermon. I was wanting to hear the Gospel preached and it’s...
Read moreI seldom attend "big church", but a small Bible fellowship. This service was encouraging. Many new believers in Christ Jesus were baptized. Lots of lively worship songs that I didn't know how to sing, but enjoyed. Everything was super animated and quite the production, plenty loud if you're hearing impaired, which I'm not. The screen showed occasional Bible verses, sermon points and song words. I'm happy that the Holy Spirit was ministering to the congregation. It would, though, be nice to hear God speak thru HIS word, the Bible. Following Christ isn't focused on what He does for me,and my testimony as it should be focused on HIM. He gives peace and forgiveness of sins. It's more than a "feeling". My life is spent serving a Holy, loving, powerful, patient, merciful, just, righteous, awesome, mighty God. To God...
