Avoid this company if you can. I had nothing but problems every step of the way with them. For starters, in my initial talks with them they said their steel and materials didn't come from overseas companies in China or India; that was a lie. The company then mis-advised me as for which building was right. I got a building with a very small over hang that drops slush, ice and water right in front of the doors in the winter which freezes them shut every year. What is even worse is there is NO way to modify the roof without completely replacing the entire unmodular and expensive roof or risk drilling holes into the top of the roof, which could cause leaking. The roof is poorly designed in the first place considering the size of the roof panels of you have a single panel get damaged your entire roof is worthless unless you pay a thousand dollars for shipping plus the cost of the panel to have another shipped to you 4 months or more later.
Once the shipment arrived there were problems too. Their paperwork allows for a single day or two to inventory all the parts. The fact of the matter is that there isn't enough room on a given job site to do this without risking losing things because you have parts laying everywhere. So we had to begin construction and make sure each and every part was accounted for while building; pulling it directly off the crates and attaching it to the building. Their parts were not a packaged in proper build sequence order, and there were parts thrown in the bottom of non-descript boxes of unrelated parts that weren't used until the end of the job. There were also critical, structural parts missing from the shipment as well that Trachte did not replace or refund me for. I had to have a metal shop in town custom make a piece for me; expensive.
The building construction went fine however it resulted in a lot of significant rework, and their erection guide is poorly written and out of date. This is unacceptable for a many-decade old company charging a premium for their poorly-designed buildings - and they ARE poorly designed according to two master's degree level civil engineers I've had inspect the building. The poor design had to do with much of the construction re-work and delays.
Which brings me to their construction team, B.U.G. Drywallers. Their construction team did some work on my friends storage units, for which I acted as an inspection contractor, and when I came to inspect the job upon completion I found that they had thrown small to medium sized scrap metal cuttings into some long grass on his property as well as stealing every single item of value left over after the job was finished. They stole the wooden crates, extra pieces that come with the building, extra tools, screws, chalk, leftover scrap metal and everything else that was leftover, except for the garbage and non-recyclable scrap metal; again, they took every item of value.
Finally, they also wrote some scammy clauses in to the contract where they can charge for extra things, and they'll even threaten to sue you if you don't respond and pay right away. It's racketeering where they create artificial demand for legal services then pass that cost along to their customers. This is a felony offense to do this, and they have, in fact, met all but one criteria for being charged with this; i.e. intent. To prove intent would involve serious investigation which average Joes don't possess the means nor the resources to do. So I'll leave it to customers to use this review to decide whether to do business with this company. Hopefully a review like this will get them to straighten up their act before they lose more sales (I've already advised a friend to cancel a $25,000 order for a storage unit on their lake front property with my easily provable story with dozens of witnesses as well as video, audio and photo documentation of all...
Read moreThis company is nothing but headache and dissapintment when you run into an issue with them- they will find any possible excuse to get your money so stay away from them and thank me later. Yes their product is good and made in USA ,the inside stuff is good, fast and efficient but the manager personel and the owner are endlessly greedy and this is exactly how you loose any hopes in humanity. I picked a load with 2 stops for them and ran into an issue right away- didn’t call the reciver the same moment after pick up (2.30pm) hitting a traffic in Madison and called next day (1day ahead of delivery) to find out nobody is waiting for me at the first stop (of 2) . Spent few hrs figuring out what to do next- been told to go to second stop and probably return the first load back, made all plans, routes and stuff and went my way… next day they called in saying to go to first stop and everything would be unloaded . It was a good news and kind of relief for me that they figured everything out and id go my way, I found a back haul to come back home. Once got to the first delivery- no one was there and didn’t unload me,they said go to the second and bring the first load back but the backhaul was already booked. Picked that one ,delivered in Chicago and Got back to them and at the very first moment they were looking for anything to claim the insurance saying I might have any damages due to having additional load(it didn’t even touched their stuff) didn’t find anything and then decided to reduce my pay by 75%. I understand that’s a business but there was 0% of my fault that the first customer dropped out and refused to take it,then - they didn’t know what to do with the first load sending me to the first stop then to the second while my backhual was already booked and in the end they just decided to find me guilty for their customer not willing to pay and reduced my agreed rate by 75% . So if you want to run into a tremendous problem for no reason- this is the place to go and work with. If not id recommend to steer clear of them because if they have an issue with someone they will try to blame you and make that issues yours which is rediculous . But anyway- I wish them best luck and to find what...
Read moreWe've purchased 2 other storage buildings from 2 different companies in the past ... they were ok / mediocre with regards to overall engineering as well as fit and finish ... our friend and excavator decided to throw his hat into the ring and bought property, then chose Trachte as his supplier for his 2 new buildings last fall ... we were so impressed with how the entire process went for him ... from ordering thru completion, his satisfaction was relayed to us and after we saw the completed structures,we knew our next building would be a Trachte ... our project was smooth from start to finish from the folks at Trachte and we recieved alot of great and helpful input from Rick Jannsen ... great communication from Gina for the shipping and an overall quality product from Trachte that even the owner of the construction company that assembled our buildings,Dan, raves about how much better a Trachte building is compared to the competitor brands he's also assembled ... we're completely satisfied with Trachte and have recommended to my wife's uncle to make his new complex a Trachte site and we'll certainly use Trachte for our 3rd building hopefully...
